Embark on a magical winter journey with us as we escape to Hoshino Resorts Aomoriya, a modern ryokan nestled in the heart of Aomori’s snowy wilderness. This isn’t just a hotel stay; it’s an immersive experience in Japanese hospitality, winter serenity, and the unique charm of a contemporary ryokan.
Our adventure began with a scenic local train ride, followed by a comfortable hotel shuttle bus that transported us deeper into the snow-covered landscapes of Aomori. The journey itself was a captivating prelude to our destination, as we witnessed the transformation of the scenery into a pristine winter wonderland.
Hoshino Resorts Aomoriya is renowned for its blend of traditional ryokan elements with modern comforts and entertainment. We opted for a slightly larger room, and it did not disappoint. The spacious and beautifully designed room offered stunning views of the surrounding landscape, creating a tranquil sanctuary for our winter retreat.
One of the highlights of Aomoriya is its expansive onsen, featuring a large outdoor pool. Before indulging in the onsen experience, we enjoyed the free-flow apple juice, a delightful nod to Aomori’s famous apple farms. The refreshing and delicious juice was the perfect way to prepare for a relaxing soak in the warm waters.
After the onsen, we explored the ryokan’s captivating basement area, famous for its intricate lamps and decorations. It was like stepping into a whimsical world of light and shadow, showcasing the artistry and craftsmanship of Aomori. We also discovered one of the largest gift shops we’ve ever encountered, offering a treasure trove of local delicacies, arts and crafts, and unique souvenirs.
Throughout the ryokan, we found comfortable lounges offering free-flow coffee and tea, creating inviting spaces to unwind and soak in the tranquil atmosphere. As evening approached, we made our way to the ryokan’s expansive dining hall, where a vast selection of Japanese dishes awaited us. While alcoholic beverages were not included in the meal plan, the culinary offerings were plentiful and delicious.
The next morning, we awoke to a still dark morning, eager to experience the outdoor onsen during sunrise. The sight of the sun rising over the serene pond, while soaking in the warm waters, was a truly unforgettable moment. While we couldn’t capture the onsen experience on video due to privacy, we’ll share our impressions and convey the magical atmosphere.
Breakfast was served in the same dining hall, offering a wide array of Japanese breakfast dishes, providing a perfect start to our day. With time to spare before our next train ride, we took a short stroll outside the hotel, where the frozen lake presented a breathtakingly serene winter landscape. It was a picture-perfect moment, capturing the essence of Aomori’s winter beauty.
Our shuttle bus arrived on time, and we reluctantly bid farewell to Hoshino Resorts Aomoriya, carrying with us memories of a truly magical winter retreat.
