Great video. Really ramped up my excitement for our visit to Japan coming up in April. Staying in Kabukicho for 6 nights as a base to explore Tokyo and then off to Kyoto, and other places. Canβt wait!!

I've heard a lot of mixed things about Kabukicho…. I remember you mentioning in a past stream that someone approached you there and wanted you to visit some "bar".

This is so cool. I was in this exact neighborhood about 18 months ago and we stayed at the Hotel Gracery.
I was in Kabukicho one night and this fellow came running up to me and started telling me in a mix of Japanese and broken English that I had to come with him. He was so animated, and was gesticulating so wildly, pointing off into the distance, that I couldn't decide whether he knew a bar I should visit or that the Emperor's Palace was under attack and only I could save him. EIther way I didn't go with him,.
Ahhh…..the red light district…..never misses.

I haven't been to Tokyo since 2004-2005. I want to go back, but some of these other channels are giving the perception that it's now overrun with nuisance streamers (not referring to good streamers like you), and just badly behaved foreigners in general. Is this something you noticed there recently, or is that perception being blown out of proportion?
how do you know if a place has a cover charge in addition to the menu items ?
