LIVING in FUKUOKA | no.24 | Annual Flea Market & Snowy day Outing to Hakata Port Tower

I live in Fukuoka. And this is a vlog of my ordinary days.
Fukuoka is located in the South and has warm weather compared to the rest of Japan, but we had a very cold week, some days snowing. Instead of staying indoors the whole week,I did some fun outings. There was a flea market on Saturday & Sunday (Feb,8-9) and I made it on Saturday to explore a little bit. Although it was too cold to stay for a long time, it became a good memory. Warm food, coffee, places and people brought my week small pleasures. And I share some of it in my vlog.

Thank you for watching.
If you have any questions about the video, please feel free to leave a comment.

  1. Hi 2nd Passport. Very nice and elegant episode as always. Yes, heard about the cold and the snow lately. It is unusual, but I have seen snow a number of times over the years. The flea market is good and also the one in Hakozaki, none is cheap though, but I have bought some old kitchen knives cheap and restored them. Nice with all the food stalls. A bit hesitant about the paella though, it is a dish that needs individual timing for the various ingredients. I lived in Spain for many years and in touristic places shrimps cooked for hours in these big pans and became chewing gum. But I am picky with food. Normally with food stalls I go for Japanese or Indian food. Wow, what a lunch! It is bordering to kaiseki. And mentaiko! In Nishinakasu, it is a good place. Hakata Port Tower and Bayside Place. I am hysterically scared of heights and tall buildings, but the port tower felt quite safe. Several good fish and seafood restos in Bayside Place. I often bicycled to there to eat something, watch boats, buy some fish to bring home. And the tower is free as you say. There is/was also an older onsen down there. Sometimes there are ceramic fairs in the nearby Marine Messe. The area well worth a visit when in Fukuoka. Ok, have good 24 hours days and arigato!

  2. Hello!! Konnichiwa!!
I would have loved to have been at the flea market with you. Not only were there a lot of fun things, but it was so organized. I would have bought a bunch of teas. Flea markets in the US aren't so neat and tidy as this one. I've read in the news that Japan is getting more snow than usual this winter. Stay warm and cozy as much as you can. Thank you for sharing the Red Brick Culture Museum. I love the architecture and esthetics of the building. Fukuoka has been placed on my list of places to visit one day while I'm in Japan. Thank you for another great blog. Take care! ❤
