After spending several days near Shibuya Train Station to view the many sights around Tokyo we took subways to Asakusa Station where we purchased our four day Nikko passes.
We then took the Tobu-Nikko express to Shimo-Imaichi station where we had to transfer to another train that took us to the delightful little town next to the Kinugawa Onsen Station.
We stayed in a hotel where there was a traditional Japanese onsen which we enjoyed very much, especially after hauling luggage and wandering around the shrines and temples all day.
Then it was back to Kinugawa Onsen Station to take a series of trains from this station back to Asakusa station, transferring to another train to Odawara Station where we took another train to Hakone station and finally the delightful red express up into the hills at Gora Station.

  1. Thanks for posting. This video showed us a lot of neat commuter trains plus a bonus of steam.
    Cheers Ken😀

  2. Yes Ken, that was definitely a bonus with the steam locomotive which did excursion trips on the same piece of track leading into the mountains covered with autumn leaves. Unfortunately due to time constraints we were not able to take an excursion prioritising of course the stunningly amazing shrines and temples and a magnificent pagoda which Nikko is famous for.
