Evening walking to Yokote castle in snow, Akita, Japan, 2025 • 4K

No talking or faces, just natural surround sound.
Yokote is a city in the southeastern part of Akita Prefecture. There’s a snow festival here in February, which some say is even better than the one in Sapporo. However, this time it was a quiet town.
I stopped in Yokote, planning to explore the neighboring stations, but I got sick on the day I arrived.

  1. The big snowplow drifts along the side of the roads remind me of when I was a kid and all of us in the neighborhood would use the biggest ones for elaborate construction projects. This town either has well-behaved kids or the snow was too recent, there's a few there that would make for some epic snow forts.

  2. So nice – the snow covered hill, samurai pond, and the traditional castle on the top – true Japanese winter image of our dreams ❄🏯❄💖… The castle was reconstructed in 1965 but the 16th century spirit of the samurai times sure can still be felt there 🤗. Beautiful night view of the city – and of the river before. I was happy, this time the little snowman didn't fell down by himself, nor was ''executed'' ⛄😅 !! Liked the atmosphere of the walk, a bit melancholic – the weather, the hour… ❄💙❄😊👍
