Mount Fuji, or Fuji-san, is Japan’s highest and most iconic mountain, standing at 3,776 meters (12,389 feet). It is a stratovolcano located on Honshu Island, roughly 100 kilometers southwest of Tokyo. Mount Fuji straddles the boundary between Yamanashi Prefecture and Shizuoka Prefecture.

The 5th Station of Mount Fuji is a popular spot for those looking to start their climb up Japan’s tallest mountain, or simply to enjoy the stunning views without trekking to the summit. It is located at around 2,300 meters (7,546 feet) above sea level. Due to rain, we could neither visit the 5th Station of Mount Fuji nor see the Mount Fuji at Lake Ashi in Hakone.

Gotemba Premium Outlets is Japan’s most popular outlet mall, located at the base of Mount Fuji in Gotemba City, Shizuoka Prefecture.

Lake Ashi, also known as Ashinoko Lake or Hakone Lake , is a scenic crater lake located in the Hakone area of Kanagawa Prefecture. Lake Ashi offers stunning views of Mount Fuji on clear days. It lies within the caldera of Mount Hakone, a complex volcano that last erupted in 1170 CE. The lake is known for its views of Mount Fuji, its numerous hot springs, historical sites, and ryokan.

Hakone Shrine, with its iconic red torii gate (Heiwa no Torii) standing in the waters of Lake Ashi, creates a picturesque and serene scene.
