Simple supply and demand. These cars are worth a shedload of money now because a lot of people want them. The values of desirable old cars usually start skyrocketing around the 30 year mark. Same thing happened to muscle cars, prewar cars etc

Please don’t pay those stupidly inflated prices for one of these. If you can afford 80k for a car, buy a ticket to Japan, go to a dealer auction, and buy one of these for almost half the price!
