There are many ways to go to Mount Fuji from central Tokyo .
Wherever you are easy way to reach first Tokyo central station or Shinjuku station.
The Fuji Excursion Train train is a direct connection between Shinjuku, Tokyo and Fuji Kawaguchiko. Learn about the route, time table, JR Pass and more.
You can take the JR Chuo limited express train from Shinjuku Station to Kawaguchiko Station, and then transfer to the Fujikyu Railway Line. This route is cheaper but slower than the Fuji Excursion, and takes about 3 hours
Tokyo to Mount Fuji: – Take the JR Chuo Line from Tokyo Station to Otsuki Station. – At Otsuki Station, transfer to the Fujikyu Railway Line and continue to Kawaguchiko Station, which is the gateway to Mount Fuji. – The total journey takes about 2-2.5 hours
I have used this route.
You can also take a bus from Shinjuku Station to Mount Fuji which takes about 2 hours and costs 15 US dollars one way.

  1. I decided to rent a car and drive there. A bit of a learning curve and my friend and I got lost in a tunnel for a bit but we made it there by sunset. The journey back was a little tough in the dark. This was basically "countryside" so the roads were small and kinda hard until we made it back to the highway.
