I Searched for Japan’s CHEAPEST Retro Game Store

I’m back in Japan for more retro game hunting! This time I’m driving across western Japan, searching Hard Off, Surugaya, and tons more tiny shops for the best prices on retro games and consoles!

  1. This video took me by surprise and took away 45 minutes of my sleeping time, but I do not regret it.
I stopped playing Pokemon Go then dropped into Pikmin Bloom.

  2. OMG!!! I just rewatched your old video! No wonder you are back in Japan again!! Excited to finally visit Japan next year! 🎉🎉🎉

  3. damn bro what a great video ! one day i wanna go there and buy a gba gen 3 game or a gameboy advanced sp or something really

  4. Hi Nick, so happy to watch your video, especially as I was doing the same thing 3 months ago in Japan, especially in Kyushu area 😄 I just wanted to say that indeed, Bookbox in Kagoshima is an amazing place to visit. It's 2 old gentlemen that own the store, they are passionate and we had a blast. This place looks like a museum, it's almost overwhelming. Anyway, it's really nice to see you wandering around the same stores, it brings back nice memories. Thanks for the video! Cheers mate

  5. It always shocks me the rare great prices people pass up on in these videos to only get things we could get anywhere for just a good discount instead..

  6. I respect these shops for not immediately throwing away broken stuff, knowing that someone will come by and buy the items to fix and enjoy. Yet again, Japan is peak.

  7. When you fully get entrenched in commander, and go back to Japan, the more known Magic The Gathering Store is Hareruya. Just their sleeves are pretty awesome and have some cache in America.

  8. So happy you uploaded this Nick. Great content and can't wait to go to one of my dream destinations Japan one day.

  9. It's so crazy the difference in prices from shop to shop. I guess it's kinda like here. I don't know if you know about it, I'm sure you do but do they have a price checking web site like pricecharting over there?
The prices recently just started skyrocketing over there. They use to be so cheap just a couple years ago.

  10. i visited that suruga-ya in Kumamoto, and OMG the figure section had so many hidden gems that you will not find in Tokyo/Osaka, like FFVII Gacha figures.

  11. The Tsuruya section was so cute! I hope he and his lil shop are doing fine <3
I'm going on a trip with family in a month, and while we're stuck in Tokyo (so the prices may not desirable), these are super fun to watch. Even if I might not get anything, you make Hard/Book Off hunting look fun, so I'm looking forward to doing the same. Maybe I'll just pick up an NDS.
    Awesome vid! 🙂

  12. It is always fun to remote browse through Japanese thrift stores, I would go broke if I ever made it there xD Thanks for taking us along!
I would love to see a video about your MTG Commander experience!
