Takoyaki originated in Osaka Japan but has spread throughout the world. Traditionally it’s a ball shaped snack made of wheat based batter and cooked in a molded cast iron pan. Filled with chopped octopus, tempura scraps, green onion there are many variations. These ones were at the night market (pasar malam) in Kampung Baru in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur and fillings included octopus, chicken, prawn and crab.
