Hidden deep in the countryside near Koriyama, Takayashiki Inari Shrine is famous in the local area for its rows of red torii gates. With over one hundred gates, the shrine has an ethereal atmosphere in a rural setting, complete with a family of chickens that live on the shrine grounds.
Like most inari shrines, fox statues are a common feature at Takayashiki, since they are considered to be messagers of inari, the kami of rice and prosperity.
