Eating nothing but fresh sashimi and tempura all day in Japan is a✨vibe✨ Yokohama, Japan

You can find good food everywhere in Japan, but you can also find some not-so-great food. We loved what we were served at the Yokohama Fish Market during our tour, which at the time was only ¥5,000/person but has now risen to ¥10,000/person. However, when considering the logistics of providing attendees with a tour guide of the fish market, an English translator, and a generous sampler of fresh fish, this is worth every bit for an insight of the market, which runs a very tight operation.
On the other hand, we were unprepared with our Tokyo dinner and ended up wandering into a neighbourhood tempura restaurant that could hardly be considered the best. But average tempura technique and a little bit of underseasoning won’t compare to the friendly and chatty service of the aunties that run the old establishments that have lingered in the neighbourhood since who knows how long, eateries that no doubt are slowly dying out. It’s not a must-eat if you’ve got a dozen other things to try during a short trip, but it’s definitely not bad eats if you’re here to enjoy the vibe.

  1. ah, this is one of the vids i've been waiting for. They even have a guide for the fish market! And fresh persimmon for breakfast, that's… fancy!

But yes, the star of the show… that sashimi platter has 'quality' written all over it. Is that abalone sashimi at the top?! I had never had that before.
