Thank you for being here 🙂 In this video, I visited Susaki city, famous for the signature food, nabeyaki ramen also with the 1300 years old sacred camper tree.
After leaving the Shikoku Karst, I headed to Susaki City. I wanted to try the local specialty, Nabeyaki Ramen, so I stayed at the Toda Ryokan, which had a friendly owner. On the day of my arrival, I chatted with the owner and explored the tsunami evacuation site near the ryokan. The next day, I went to the restaurant early to enjoy Nabeyaki Ramen, but afterwards, I decided to visit Susaki Tairyodo, which had an impressive vermilion gate. Inside, I found a spacious café-restaurant area. The digital signage menu, authentic antiques, and high-quality furnishings caught my eye. Particularly impressive was the magnificent black pine, reportedly sourced from Kyoto, which was truly a precious sight. The café offered a wide variety of lunch options and sweets, and had plenty of power outlets. According to the website, I found that this place was created as part of a town revitalization project, fully backed by a local bank under the mayor’s initiative. After taking a break, I left Susaki City, but not before visiting the 1,300-year-old Great Camphor Tree of Otani. It turned out to be a city with much richer memories than I had imagined.
