cute little stores but what they also have is great food that you can find in every corner so in this video I’m going to be walking around asakusa to show you guys some of the foods that you guys must must try you guys ready then keep watching the video but before we start the video today can I tell you guys something well it’s just that despite the fact that Japan is a relatively visitor friendly country you’ll most likely miss out on a lot of great experiences if you’re not fluent in Japanese but don’t worry guys with today’s sponsor CL you can be absolutely certain that you’re getting the me guys in Japan you really want to get these tickets in advance if you guys were coming to asakusa like I did today they also have all kinds of great guided tours for asakusa so that you guys can fully experience this beautiful place so if you guys are interested and I know you are go ahead and use the link in the description and use my promo code Jimmy Kim to save 10% on your first booking now allow your good Uncle Jimmy to eat some great food in asakusa our journey will start here at the very iconic Landmark called kaminarimon gate when you’re in asakusa you’ll most likely start your journey here too obviously I don’t know too much about asakusa so I’ve hired the best tour guide that I could possibly find rang best tour guide best tour guide yeah she used to work here in asakusa as a rir driver now she got a new job as a corporate worker but she took a day off to take me to different amazing places for food in asakusa of course should we go let’s go so through the kaminar moon gate this is what you’ll see so this is probably the most iconic Street in asakusa there’s a Street full of different stores here and apparently they have a lot of food here too right yeah this street name is nakam nakam yeah I wanted to try something in this Main Street so we decided to start with something simple like this tempura muu that’s so cheap it’s a DE bun with red bean paste in it and this store had a few different [Music] flavors what should I get should I get the plum or matcha I would like to get an wow okay that looks really cute yeah really cute I never actually tried it yours has lots of Sesame in it it yeah let’s try there’s a red pink paste inside it’s really sweet is it Plum no if you ask me I don’t taste a lot of Plum I think it’s plum colored it’s like a good little snack so it looks like they de fried it for like a short seconds so the surface of it is like really crispy it didn’t blow me away with the quality but then it’s so affordable that I don’t see how it’s not worth it at the End of the Street you’ll find one of the most iconic landmarks in Tokyo senoji Temple but today I want to focus on finding more food uh what else should we try should we go to a different street yep Deo in Street Deo in Street yeah I feel like the stores in there they’re very nice but it’s like very touristic very touristic so I feel like these smaller streets they might have better options for us wow this is as somebody who loves wagu and rice I just had to try this it’s like a wagu rice Burger they’re making that Rice Burger over there big one small one mine’s a little bigger I guess they also have Wasabi here I think you’re supposed to have wasabi with it if you want to wow that’s a lot of meat M this so nice okay let me try too I love meat there’s a lot of meat in there one thing that I really appreciated is the fact that they had a lot of wagu beef in it so the rice is really hot but the meat is cold the sauce here kind of like a mild Teriyaki sauuce I’m not sure if it is I think the best way to describe this is that it’s a rice Burger filled with medium rare wagu beef so it’s like eating a really good teriyaki beef the beef is really good I actually like the rice as well it has some soy flavor the rice and it’s like really crispy on the surface here I wouldn’t say this is the best wagu that I’ve had but it’s a fun snack with lots of protein that’s nice to have so it says you can’t walk and eat at the same time I’ve done it a few times in Japan I’m sorry that was surprisingly good made Taiwan St Fried Chicken can I have one Fried Chicken so I didn’t know but there’s a green zone where you can eat the food so you can’t just eat anywhere but it has to be in the green zone all right there’s our Fried Chicken the chicken was so large that basan could cover her entire face with it yeah let’s try let’s see she hold on it’s too hot try again oh super hot this is going to be interesting it’s my first time trying Taiwan style fried chicken apparently a lot of Taiwanese like Japan and a lot of Japanese like Taiwan Taiwanese visitors ranked second in terms of the number of tourists in Japan with only South Korean tourists surpassing them so maybe that’s why they have their Chicken in asakusa so how’s their chicken okay first off it does feel very Taiwanese it has that dint Tha fun flavor have you been to D Tha fun I feel like their pork is very Sim similar to this except this is Fried Chicken it’s extremely crispy and it’s uh surprisingly quite meaty for how flat it is it’s mostly pepper and salt on the surface I’m sure they have other seasonings too it’s hard to tell what it is one thing that I’ll say is that it’s about as crispy as it gets it’s pretty thick it’s not like paper thin it’s very Savory so the more I eat this the more I realize that there really is lots of meat in this in my belly right now there’s a Pacific Ocean full of oil so I think we need to drink something strawberry smoothie strawberry smoothie that sounds perfect right now yeah and she took me to a perfect place for that oh that looks really good and there are two flavors two flavors yeah one is tea and or milk you want the milk I’ll get the tea then it was a super cute store with lots of kawaii energy where they sell strawberry themed items they strawberry tequila as well I like how they have their own anime character too all right there’s yours thank you and I believe that’s mine Cheers Cheers now that looks very strawberry I feel like there’s a lot of strawberry that went into this yeah oh wow I actually really like it it feels very healthy and it’s like strawberry ice cream oh that’s like strawberry ice cream yeah this is just like Blended strawberry it was extremely refreshing and it didn’t taste like it’s mainly syrup like in most places I mean I’d have this over Starbucks anyday let’s have some more food now um there’s this thing called Tango and we actually had this before together that’s a long time ago like two years ago long time ago let this again so Dango is a traditional Japanese snack and it’s a little rice cake balls on a skewer and they look very cute like everything else in Japan I also decided to get this Sakura Mochi which is a cherry blossom flavored Mochi with cherry blossom Leaf wrapping around it okay let’s sit over here maybe actually you can eat these leaves too Sakura Moi we have a sakura trees in Korea too but we don’t really eat them very sweet reding past inside I feel like this rice cake though it doesn’t come from rice flour cuz I can still kind of feel the rice this is the based on show you sweet show you wow that looks like an anime it’s so cool to see cuz when I was young I’d only see these things in anime the leaf it tastes a little salty and there’s a lot of fiber in it I would say this muchi is a very nice and affordable snack in Japan you’re many terrible some flavors like ice cream rice cake of course Starbucks drinks too I feel like mine is the same as yours with a seaweed wrap around it that looks so cool so mango was supposed to be sweet and the dried seaweed added more Savory touch so it made things a little more interesting these dangles were made with proper quality and they were so affordable that it almost felt unreal around senoji Temple there are numerous streats like these where they have a lot of souvenir stores and surprisingly delicious food too I like how in like Japanese Street malls they have a rooftop so you can like just walk around when it’s raining too yeah there’s wagu cutlet here so this vendor had a large cutlet with beef patty inside and cute little wagu balls only the big one has blue cheese inside and I like my meat with little bit of cheese and funny smell with it so and big one Kish Kish Kisha is a place oh okay so it’s a different kind of wagu too w we had ours cut in half they’re giving me a free wine Service as well there’s that funny smelling blue cheese wagu KATU hi this tastes very expensive doesn’t taste too complicated though it’s just cheese beef and the coclet but it’s very nice I like it allow me to drink that wine as well now I know nothing about wine but I feel like that tasted good careful don’t get drunk I feel like they go well together though no totally much especially with the cheese flavor inside let me finish it all next we went to this ice cream place where they specializing matcha ice cream so we’ve come to this really cool gelato place where they have like 50 different shades of matcha number seven is really Macha I want very very matcha I choose is number two or number three okay I want that most thick matcha flavor that’s like original hul Cream their flavors were all matcha or something that feels locally Japanese like brown rice black sesame or auki beans the flavor that I got had a little bit of an extra charge but everything else was the same price brown rice tea and number two matcha looks tasty roasted te and number seven so there’s my number seven and that’s our number two the gelato was relatively small but it was extremely aesthetic and of course for that reason there were a lot of visitors I don’t know what you guys think I feel like that looks beautiful it looks so perfectly round it looks like a planet she said number seven might be a little too strong yeah I’m not sure what you meant by that no I think it’s fine like it’s not like Petter let’s compare the with number two and S oh there’s definitely a lot of difference too strong too strong it’s very thick it’s so strong that it’s almost like you’re eating a bunch of matcha powder yeah and I feel like that would be the typical like green tea ice cream that you get in like other places easy to eat is it a really great ice cream it’s like very consistent texture so well crafted you know what I realized about asakusa it’s a very touristy place but there’s not a lot of like tourist traps you know how in Korea when you go to like very popular places everything is expensive and they they don’t taste very good but I feel like asakusa like it’s a little more expensive than other places but it’s still okay we both got different flavors I feel like they’re all really good what can I say great a it would be really nice to come here on an actual date before moving too far from senoji Temple I wanted to try things that are a little more touristic so I decided to try this strawberry Dango place there’s a few of these places and they’re very pretty and people like to take photos with it oh I’ll get that I feel like that one’s nice I kind of want that too but I want it to be more Japanese mango strawberry matcha sweet reding paste that sounds like everything I like that looks like that’s a lot of uh everything she’s too full so let me finish it the rice cake part feels a little harder than the one that we had earlier M but the fruit paste on top it’s very sweet there’s definitely more artificial touch to it but I like it this is very tasty which one is the best M mango part was the best the first one while I’m here maybe I should gu something else that’s touristy as well ice melon Pang this is melon Pang which is bread with cookie layer on top I don’t know if you guys knew but melon pom actually doesn’t have melon inside wow so there’s melon bread and there’s a slap of ice cream inside wow over Tre and dream hm children’s dream so Japanese kids really like it yeah oh okay there’s ice cream inside yeah and the melon Pang is like super sweet unbelievable well I’m not a Japanese boy but let me appreciate this ice melon bang in Korea we have something similar it’s called soang very very similar it just doesn’t have that melon shape but it has the exact same um these sugar tumors on the bread like a cookie on the top now I would say it would have been nicer if it was a little water warmer like the bread was warm and the ice is cold it’s something that’s kind of nice to try if you’ve never tried one but don’t expect to be blown away by it definitely not as delicate as the ones that we had before did you eat this a lot when you were a kid no what did you like as a kid I really like this oh that’s so cute what’s your favorite flavor this one caramel oh caramel yeah I saw this food quite a lot while I was in asakusa this is called daao which is pretty much sugar glazed sweet potatoes how do you use this like Fork oh you just oh okay see there was Japanese bamboo fork wow it it’s really good it’s like a little crispy on the surface but super soft on the inside remember we had this like a long time ago when you were still working here yeah back when I was young I was like a little boy back then so if you don’t mind something that is insanely sweet this was kind of a great snack I didn’t want to eat too much but it was so good after this rasan took me to a place that is a little far from the central area and it was her favorite salt bread store Shang sh means salt salt okay did you know that um salt bread in Korea is very popular too it’s very trendy it became very popular like in last 2 years mhm when I was young we didn’t have salt bread it’s very new all they had was salt bread but a lot of different flavors men you want the men they don’t have a table inside so we we’re going to go to a local park and eat them yes we also got some drinks at the convenience store and walk to a nearby public park all right we just got to the park and uh I guess people eat in public parks in Japan right yeah okay not while you’re walking but sitting down in a public park is okay so she got a PO gr flavor and it actually has fish egg inside very cool very Japanese yeah one of is the favorite Japanese foodo wow it’s filled with it too so like I was saying earlier in Korea we have a lot of salt bread these days it’s very popular so I had it before I want to see how this one compares to the ones in Korea one thing that I noticed is that it’s a little more chewy or tougher than I thought oh wow it’s really good but the flavor of the bread and the feeling inside were really good there’s just a little touch of cream inside it just feels nice crafted it’s not like too sweet you know what salt bread is kind of looks like cran but it’s not like cran the texture is somewhere in between cang and typical bread little bit crispier on the outside and they always have like a few pieces of salt on top do you guys see all that Japanese cream I’m sure you’ve seen it somewhere I liked it as it is but I have a feeling that it might been much better if it just came out of the oven there’s more milky cream and more custard cream too it’s like the mix of two Peach cola this is peach flavored Coca-Cola pretty sure they only have it in Japan see this is something about Japan that you never knew about you should know about this this is really good yeah this is like Cherry Coke but Peach wow like artificial Peach maybe she’s not going to like it maybe this is too American but perhaps it’s not for everyone this is like my first time seeing her unhappy face okay she doesn’t like it what it is it’s Coca-Cola with peach flavor I me it’s not for everyone but I like it this to americ and I have a feeling that the more obese you are the more you’re going to like it well it’s interesting interesting okay that was a lot of food in one day thank you so much for keeping up with me there’s a lot of great food in asakusa we haven’t tried but we just ran out of space but you guys should definitely come here try all kinds of food and like you guys saw it’s pretty affordable too thank you ran we’ll do this again okay yeah and remember ran when you go to Korea or a different country you can use clo of course hopefully we’ll meet in Korea yeah okay I’m looking forward to that me too goodbye guys bye [Music]

  1. Doing a Japan/South Korea trip in a month! Watching all your videos makes me super excited for all the food we will eat πŸ˜‚ love your videos!!

  2. this video was very wholesome that make me feel sad , i remember i just breakup with my gf last week.

  3. Great video!
But I think you should skip the "u" in "kusa", as in more of a "Asaksa"
Mostly same as you usually dont say "suki" but "ski", or "des" and not "desu" as it sounds like idk attitude, sarcasm, or just a little weird, its often silent

  4. In 3 years, Jimmy will be married to one of the girls who appear in his videos. πŸŽ±πŸ‘

  5. Yeah, I'd say Asakusa is worth the trip. It can get real crowded and it's more expensive than individual stores outside but the quality is still relatively decent/can be really good. It's also a nice experience and several different types of food are all there for you to try one after another.
