what’s up fellow journeyers so what is an awesome way to see a piece of denali national park without actually going to denali national park how about staying in a denali national park bus in alaska [Music] so we’re north of fairbanks alaska it’s like 10 degrees right now i think the low tonight’s negative 20. so it is cold like this is legit snow this is legit cold but this is gonna be i think legit awesome we have not been inside this they pulled this thing right out of the park denali national park is one of our absolute favorite national parks we love it we have ridden one of these buses who knows but when i was looking for rentals in alaska when this popped up it was the perfect combination of our love of national parks and schooly life and rv life i am pumped this is not the coolest thing wow i love it to me this is better than like any fancy hotel this speaks to us i love all the windows and then you’ve got the front windshield as well so it’s just so much light and views everywhere you got incredible views the whole way this is adorable oh so we got some fresh eggs look they’re farm eggs raw honey yeah i don’t know what i really expected coming in but it was not but it was it was not this we walked in some bus conversions they did a really good job i mean whoever had did the interior design on this did a fantastic job any airbnb it’s a really nice touch just tiny little things with you know the guest book and places to sign and i want to see where everybody’s from this is probably what i’ll be reading tonight well i love to hear about you know everybody’s story and what brings them here and obviously everybody is here for a sense of adventure and that that’s exciting if you haven’t seen our video in the off-grid cabin uh check that out because i’m kind of glad we did that before we came here because i did not know what to expect i like coming to things like with a really open mind i don’t know if we’d even have power i didn’t know if i’d be like putting wood in the stove like i did in the off-grid cabin i mean it feels off-grid because you’re getting the views and you’re getting experience but at the same time i’m not having to like wake up two or three times a night putting the wood in the fire but you know chris marianne thank you i wanted that experience but at the same time i’m not complaining about this experience as well i mean microwave refrigerator some sort of split unit it is keeping it super toasty in here right now single digits outside that is super toasty it feels like i got a lot of clothes on right now i think this is a cool touch too it’s almost like you know when you ride a bus and you have the the storage up head you know it just kind of keeps that bus feel i guess that could be a bed right there too probably yeah it sleeps five yeah we don’t live in this but like i actually want to live here now it’s so cute it feels so huge in here i would have totally done the same thing i love to keep that back glass open like that yeah so that does open and go to the path we’ll show you guys the outside here in a minute yeah cuz where’s the bathroom and again logistically makes sense to not have a bathroom in here and you get all this room without the bathroom [Music] so you can come out of the back where the bedroom is right there in the back and then walk this path right here come take a look at this it’s so cool so yes it’s a dry rental so you do have to come out this way to use the restroom and open the school bus doors first first first marissa that’s great yeah that’s great a little rv live play there they use the old doors that’s really cool that’s so cool listen rv life built us for this we’ve been practicing for this moment well i don’t know what you’re talking about we’ve been like 80 degree weather but um yeah this is cool i’m gonna put ours here there is no nashville tennessee so i’m gonna put there we’re cooking right outside it right there look at that we got europe africa south america why is that new zealand chatham islands that’s random oh my goodness china now we’re on the list that’s awesome i’ve never been more excited to use a porta potty this is going to be a fun family stay there’s some tours you can do that are right in this area but i think for us we’re going to just enjoy the bus and look they’ve even got like family games i’m excited for the kids to see it you know let the kids in yeah let’s let them in you wanna go see the bus okay look kinsley have you ever slept i remember riding on this bus a bus like this when we were in denali i told jj he got to sleep in a school bus tonight and he’s excited what do you think isn’t he love it you love it and there’s even four chairs perfect look what they got for you hensley coloring book crowns i know i see what you’re looking at hey what do you think about sleeping in a school bus bye bye bye what he saw that [Music] [Music] this is our view for tonight we are hoping that we’ll see northern lights because this is uh this is pretty convenient compared to what we’ve been doing the last two times so this location one of the perks is it’s a great viewing area we got this open field a bus full of windows if we’re gonna see them this would be a really fantastic place and i’ve been reading all the reviews in the guestbook and almost every single night people have been seeing them so and if you book at least three knots in the fairbanks area during the time this time of northern luts you have a 90 chance of seeing the lights 90 for us usually does not translate as 90 but we will see and it looks like there’s some cloud cover building up but we’ll see what we see hopefully we will see something tonight so sun’s going down that means two things number one like any vain youtuber we’re gonna be taking photos and videos of ourselves like crazy to put on social media right babe but yeah thing number two is we’re starting a fire out here because we’re gonna be outside at all it’s gonna be cold you going out it’s cold out there i know i at least try nathan’s fires out but they’re usually like no i didn’t stack this one they put this for me it’s actually i mean when there’s a fire in snow i don’t think i’ve ever done a campfire in snow i’m intrigued i give it 10 minutes so right across from the bus we have this dugout fire pit area super nice i don’t know where marissa is at she said she’d be out here i guess she already uh hey you might actually do this one it’s not bad and jj said you want to come out i don’t know how long that’ll last but that’s what he said jj is still not crazy about the snow [Music] good thing about clouds they give you a sunset bad thing about clouds at least when it comes to northern lights it makes it harder to see the northern lights we have a good kp index tonight i think it’s like five or six anything above like really you can see anything above three usually but five and up is good so it’s good so the strength of the lights is good tonight but the cloud cover can keep you from seeing those lights what if i go in this way to release open door from hell position open door fully wow that is not quiet i don’t think i’ll be sneaking out this back door tonight if we decide to go outside wow this thing is fogging up fast that’s how cold it is [Applause] just to give you an idea of how cold it is that’s how fast it fogs up and that’s how fast it clears up based on the temperature i’m gonna go back in hopefully i will not have to walk out here and use that tonight sound machine that sound machine going buddy [Music] he’s [Music] i i wake up i’m very sure he peed in his bed please not be in the bed are you good you’re good buddy please please don’t pee in the bed god she he you didn’t pee in the bed did you what about did pee in the bed did you be in the bed did mommy pee in the bed no sleeping oh she’s sleeping in a that’s an airbnb pro tip isn’t it don’t be in the bag didn’t see it hensley it’s too many clouds well there’s no clouds now as the sun came up the clouds dissipated but there was solid cloud cover woke up 10 to 12 pounds probably checking it but solid cloud cover all night i guess we can rot in the log book you know we could put in our because marissa and i have spent two out of the last three nights before this sitting in a truck for like four to six hours each night this is what we got for tonight right here it says imminent aurora is imminent tonight when it is dark wait for it so eminent sounds pretty high on the probability scale 2 a.m it’s the second night in the last three nights we tried to do this we’ve just been striking out so i can’t say this is infinitely better than sitting in a vehicle hoping it’s coming up because you’re pretty much in your home like right right now i was like we could have booked this for a week we should have we should have if you can ever book something that you can view the lights from the comfort of your home it’s not as much as viewing them as waiting for them or because no matter what we’ve done even when they said it was imminent imminent it did not come and then the nights they told us it was not coming it did come and so like i don’t see the apps worthless it’s good to do your research know your data but at the same time it’s just like a huge value to be able to just be in the comfort of your home and check for the lights that’s multiplied you know once you have kids because we wanted the kids to see it and i’m not gonna have the kids sitting with me in the truck for four to six hours waiting and hoping that this is going to happen hey can you guys see the moon just barely the moon’s about to go down you see the moon hens leaving that cool look how big it’s almost a full moon it’s super bright this morning yeah see it see the mountain watch corner up there it’s right isn’t it cool it’s like a moon set i’m sure there’s a better technical name for that but i have cowlicks they’re like impossible to get these things down too because i was really anticipating getting up watching these lights it definitely wasn’t like a solid eight hours last night yeah it was but it was great because you just kind of wake up and you’re like you go back down yeah it’s sort of like it costs more to get something like say on the beach or within walking distance of where you want to be but like especially with kids the value of that is so magnified so you don’t have to get the kids load them in the vehicle go to the beach get them back in the vehicle clean out the vehicle get to your room like being able to walk to your destination and in this case being able to like just wake up and be at your destination and see your destination very very valuable which one i’m gonna do i’m gonna be black one no no i can’t do that one why do you say which one oh here’s the one the red one [Music] you blowing it um it is yummy does everybody think the temperature is outside what do you think kinsley what 20 degrees colder than that below zero below zero how much below zero what’s your guess how cool do you think it is outside negative ten moving close negative nine oh wow i’ll give you a dollar you go lick that piece of metal right there hensley oh no no because you know what happened to my tongue you’ve seen christmas story have you seen that [Music] does she have a heart you shook her head you actually told me you’re so honest shouldn’t have done that easily so this is why we go on these crazy adventures or enjoy the rv life is because it just makes us slow down and enjoy these moments like this it is about the places we go it is about this amazing scenery behind me but it’s also about the memories we create along the way she won buddy airbnbs are a great way to mix up your adventure even if you’re in rvs we know people that take breaks and hit airbnbs every once in a while just to mix it up stretch their legs this one is just magical you know you’re in a good spot when you don’t want to leave would you stay here
