let’s see I wonder if we’re live are we live H not sure uh oh yeah it looks like we’re live welcome welcome to Kyoto uh I’m here in front of the massive Kyoto station building where I just uh arrived with a train from a small town called kashihara where I’ve been on a business trip uh I’m going back to Tokyo today but I thought since I’m stopping making a little stop over here in Kyoto why not do a little live stream because I haven’t walked here in a very long time I think last time I came here was during the pandemic so it was very very quiet I think today it will be anything but quiet it’s so crowded already at the station and I’m kind of dreading what I will see today Kyoto for those of you who aren’t so familiar with it it’s one of the most popular tourist destinations in Japan and also a city that’s really having issues with over tourism because it’s not a very big city and it doesn’t really have the infrastructure to to cope with thousands and thousands of tourists especially people who don’t know Japanese customs and manners so that has caused quite a lot of friction with the with the locals here and yeah this is the Koto Tower which is the kyota version of Tokyo Tower I guess you can say uh I assume that it’s an old TV tower not sure if it’s still in use or not but I really like the look of it it’s pretty cool very typical Tokyo like Japanese retro architecture retro futuristic time I’m quite fun Up So the plan today is to walk I think I will head towards K mudera which is one of the most famous of maybe the most famous tourist destination here in Kyoto just because I want to see how bad it is um it’s a bit of a walk oh great we have a little map here um so we are here Kyoto station okay this is a bus bus bus line map but K is over here so I need to head east and cross the river and then walk a little bit uh further and this area is very nice actually uh in in general lots of shrines and temples um all over the kyota of course but especially this kind of mountain side here so yeah that’s that’s the plan uh we’ll see how it goes if it’s too crowded I might uh get I might have a panic attack and just uh end the stream we’ll see we’ll see how it goes to Kyoto station let’s see how many times I mistakenly will say Tokyo instead of Kyoto during today’s live stream it’s a subway stop Kyoto has a Subway Network I think it’s not that big two three lines if I’m not if I’m remembering correctly and it’s actually quite uh oversized for the for the population of this city what I’ve heard like at least some Subway LS are are like losing a lot of money oh thank you Yanni for sshi lunch thank you thank you it’s very kind of VI yeah the actual City Center is down this way uh we’ll see I’m thinking to do more like a kind of U-turn kind of walk and then head back towards the city center but again we’ll see anything can happen anything can happen hey it’s very nice weather today so on this project that I’m working on I’m I’m shooting a bunch of hotels all over Japan and it’s been the same pattern every day day so I’m I’m staying two nights at each hotel and it’s always been like raining a lot on Arrival Day and the second day which second day is like the main shooting day and then it’s always sunny on the on the last day when I’m leaving so bit unfortunate but good for you means that I could do this stream probably would have done it if it was one of the things that I really like about Kyoto is that it has a lot of areas like this like the old traditional Japanese kind of tow houses and narrow streets it’s very very cozy very Scenic especially in the evening yeah not a cloud in the sky someone said well there’s a few clouds over there but it’s pretty pretty minor uh so yeah I was kind of like try to head to the East and cross the river but at the same time I don’t really want to walk on the big busiest streets so maybe back streets like these are good little compromise we’ll see have I seen the Aurora no no Tokyo is pretty far south so and also a city with lots of light pollution but I don’t think anything has been visible on our latitude but a little bit further up north in the Northern parts of Japan like Hokkaido there’s been some reports of people being able to see the aurora but not here in Tokyo no or well I’m not in Tokyo now but not here in Kyoto either or where I went for work as well those those places are a little bit too far south but I’ve seen it before I’ve seen it in Norway and Iceland never in Sweden funnily enough but I think it was visible in my Town um in Sweden too this time but this solar burst was extremely powerful so let me see checking the map here okay looks like there’s a nice little garden another block to the Northeast so let’s check that out maybe yeah sorry for the lack of streams recently but it’s this month again also turned out way busier than expected been super busy with all these travels and uh also a bunch of other photo shoots as well as a little bit of health issues in the family everybody’s been like trading blows with each other getting sick getting each other’s uh cold I [Music] guess Kyo is a like central part of Kyoto is very flat but it’s kind of in a in a basin or in a valley actually Kyoto gets extremely hot in the Summers uh I’m not sure I don’t think I’ve ever been here during the peak of Summer and I don’t want to go like it’s even worse than Tokyo that should tell you a lot however I guess from Kyoto you have you can little bit easier Escape into the mountain so maybe maybe that makes a sense sure and we just hit the 100 viewers great thanks everybody let’s see can we make 200 300 today let’s see can we make 1,000 then you will have the face reveal that promise still stands [Applause] let cross here I’m not very familiar with Kyoto toas I’ve been here a handful of times throughout the years but uh yeah never really got a good hang of the entire city like I always tend to stay kind of close to the gon area which is where yeah the gas can be seen and the area that I think quite recently got closed for tourists U but yeah that part of the city is where I’ve usually been staying but uh don’t really explore the rest of the city much it’s pretty hot today by the way we haven’t done a weather check but it’s uh uh 22° now it will go up to 25 so pretty warm pretty summer weather here in Japan funny I see so many non-japanese people on the street here I think the garden that I’m looking for might be up here no idea if it’s like open to the public but we shall find out thank you Trevor yeah if you are watching this and if you do like my walks consider pressing the like button it’s very easy way for you to help me reach more viewers so yeah I’m finishing this these three days of shooting are done now going back to Tokyo and then on Friday I’m off to my next destination I won’t reveal it now but I think I should be able to do a live stream there too and I think it’s from a prefecture that I’ve gotten quite a lot of requests about oh this looks like it’s not open to public big closed Gates somehow uh and yeah I think it’s a prefecture I haven’t streamed from before I recorded a couple of 4K videos long time ago no streams it’s from a pretty major it’s a pretty major Japanese City that I’m going to that I think a lot of you will enjoy seeing so try to stay tuned could be Friday could be Saturday could be Sunday don’t know when I will be able to stream but I’m I will do my best to try to squeeze in a stream from on one of those days anyway it’s a bit windy I hope the wind noise is not too annoying I did not bring my mic today [Music] let’s see where am I now okay yeah let’s where can we cross I guess next next chance I get to cross the street I should take it yeah that high pitched wine was kind of annoying entrance to the Garden is on the west side oh I see oh I see so it’s only it’s only one entrance Maybe too bad I’m not going to do that kind of detour my focus is to head to the river and uh Shrine area Temple area your dog started barking yeah yeah if I were a dog I would bark too so annoying I wonder if it’s like always making that noise I wonder what it is I don’t remember that’s the no that’s I’m planning to go there too but maybe first I will head towards um sanen zaka and um K area Google says it’s a 29 minute walk from here so yeah one of the problems with this over tourism is that there are just not enough space on the buses and a lot of tourists are bringing like their big suitcases on the buses which is kind of dumb if you’re coming here with a big suitcase take a taxi to your hotel consider it to the local population uh so yeah how’s Minnie Minnie is good Min is good she’s uh she’s really liking me a lot these days so she’s a little bit sad whenever I have to leave for these trips so it’s like five four or five business trips this month so plenty of good bues which doesn’t make her happy but on the flip side she’s very happy when I come back so today I plan to go pick her up at the nursery and that should make her very happy I think okay so looks like I should actually head down here and then one block this way and there’s a bridge over the over the river that is girl yeah yeah especially after golden week cuz my wife was was sick so I was spending a lot of time with mini and that really strengthened our bond I took her to a lot of places that she really liked so so since then she just want to be with me all the time which is lovely reflection reveal coming up yep not wearing pink shorts today but I am wearing a pink uh pink shirt so at least something’s pink I’ve ever done a live stream from the monkey park or the bamb for no no we have not I heard a bamboo forest is horribly overcrowded these days and uh monkey part doesn’t sound like anything I want to to involve myself with here’s a not so sad little playground do I map my route before I go on a walk no pretty much never like I I often have like a rough idea but when I’m actually out walking I just follow my instinct so like today I have a rough idea about the route that I want to take but not exactly how to get there yeah that was a cute little river I think this yeah this is kamogawa the big river that flows through Central Kyoto not sure if I’ve been this far south on kamaga actually I’m usually further up that way a couple of bridges Upstream have some very nice kind of walking paths along the river a little bit further that way is it’s very nice and green and comfortable walking with it too so let me take another little peek at the map here yeah I think I just want to head up come you this way yeah if only J could wake up in Jordans that would be nice H things are always a little bit sad with yeah our inhouse misspelling funny guy all for I’m going but I’m hearing about anti- tourism on the rise in [Music] Japan yeah maybe a little bit but it’s more like it’s not like in certain cities in Europe like Barcelona for example where there were like people really like showing hate towards tourism like there’s nothing like that in Japan yet at least as far as I know but it’s more like on a theoretical level that they’re like discussing how to how to cope with the increasing number of tourists better and of course I’m sure there’s one like there are a few individuals maybe who aren’t too happy about tourists and might show their dislike to them but it’s it’s yeah it’s definitely not not worth uh stopping your travel plans for looks like I just passed a nice coffee shop actually had a cup of coffee before the stream started so that was a really bad cup of coffee I don’t even remember the name one of the big donut chains I just needed a quick caffeine fix before the walk so just had to grab whatever was at hand but it was quite disgusting uh but yeah probably won’t have any more coffee oh yeah the aashi store on the left like this one that looks pretty cute it does so let’s see what’s this what Shrine is this there are so many in Kyoto toyokuni Ginger toyokuni shine so Google Maps never even heard of it actually but it’s nice it’s beautiful that’s one of these old um what do you call it the straw straw roof not going to I’m not going to take the time and check out everything because I don’t have too much time for today’s stream actually I need to be on my way back to Tokyo at 2: in order to pick up my daughter at the nursery today but yeah beautiful place which of course K has plenty of so sure is this a dead end maybe maybe not oh yeah it is okay need to head it this way now no wait I’m very confused now um looks like I could actually this here I can use in order to get where I want hey Olive thanks for joining good to see you Jenny was just talking about you [Music] where are all the tourists yeah not right here but I think soon you will see expect things to get pretty bad as we get closer to K that up oh Rockway siren are you also doing live streams now I did not know that I should check it out [Music] where are we right now we are in the eastern part of Kyoto on our way to Kera which is like KERA is that way never been to Toronto no never been to Canada only been the only place in Americas on the American continent I’ve been is New York and I’ve been to Hawaii too but no other place in the US and not Canada at all oh here’s the Four Seasons very fancy hotel [Music] I’m supposed to head a little bit further up this big street and I’m after that elevated expressway I’ll be turning right that’s what Google Maps is telling me to do anyway K 970 M let’s see I’m not sure if I will actually make it to the to the shrine itself having a big fear of the tourist numbers but we shall see we shall see weather is comfortable comfortable walking weather 22° maybe that was Private Street I think I saw a little sign saying something about that was getting more windy you see this flag pretty windy yeah Misty some areas some places places are having a problem with over tourism but there are lots of places that are like super beautiful and have like zero tourists so it’s if you think outside the box and look for uh the places that are maybe not on the front page of the guide books you can still have a great time here but uh you other places are definitely very very busy this looks like a beautiful place too that’s Temple up there you know that you’re reaching the tourist area when you see Kim shops especially when it’s written in other languages than Japanese [Music] bcri speech speech spee speech foreign let’s just take a little peak in here at this Temple it looked so beautiful don’t think I’ve ever been there which one is this I guess it was in some anime [Music] that’s when you appreciate the 10 time zoom on the Galaxy S phones have a single National traffic light PR on Crossing sun I don’t know I don’t think so because there are few different variants here so they don’t have one maybe a few I don’t know how how regulated it is or if like every place is free to to set their own sound the sound of someone’s phone dropping on hard concrete ground pains me equally much every time yes Tony I’m in Koto um not really in Koto for work I was in a place called kashihara which is in Nara about 1 hour south from Kyoto I was there for work but in order to get there I take shansen to and from Kyoto so now I’m on my way back home just decided to do this little live stream today oh thanks Justin good to hear that you appreciated the photos wonder if it’s possible able to just walk through this place or if I have to go back let’s see oh looks like looks like there might be an exit over here good good nice thing about kyomi zadera where I’m heading now is that from there it’s like it’s on top of a hill not the top but it’s on a hill and from there you have a pretty nice view of central Kyoto so let’s see if we will make it yeah y me neither never had any damage screen from from dropping a phone I’ve had uh I’ve had a cracked back on a phone many years ago but that was before I started streaming yeah would you is nice I’ve been to U Tony it’s a very nice city and I’ve been to bodoin as well the it’s on the on a coin right coin or one of the bank notes not remember but yeah beautiful place beautiful place and of course UI is famous for its teas uji is just little bit outside of Kyoto but yeah no I’m heading home in like yeah an hour and a half the plan today is to pick up my daughter at the nursery before like at around 5:00 so big Cemetery here now it got very hot huge graveyard massive beautiful too so I wonder let’s hope that this is not a dead end didn’t really check them map that thoroughly but it looks like I should it’s a bit of a walk but it looks like I should be able to hit K’s dead by continuing Straight Ahead yeah this is kind of like the not the main route more like a back route so we’ll see I guess I have to take the busy one back down let’s see how bad it is do you know this place Yi s let’s see could this place be doesn’t look like it but it looks like there might be a nice view over here out so yeah we can barely see K is up there don’t know if you can see it but otherwise it looks pretty much like a dead end here this is exactly why I don’t like to plan my walks too much in advance I want I prefer to just be able to walk freely and then that’s how I like to to do also when I’m traveling privately like I like to just walk around without any like without having too clear plans cuz usually that’s when you find the really good stuff and Hilda please stop sending irrelevant messages about a politician oh look there we can see Kyoto Tower where I started today’s walk switch to the zoom camera do you see it it wasn’t really my intent though to make this a cemetery walk but wow look at this place that’s a lot of graves but yeah I think this is the exit exit from the cemetery and uh the hidden Pathway to K apparently there are wild monkeys around here what’s the ticking sound I don’t know like this that that’s actually my joints my right foot have been making sound for as long as I can remember if I take a step in a certain angle which I tend to do when walking uphill oh is there an entrance Fe 2 km there now that’s not going to pay that spe pretty sure there was no entrance Fe last time I came here but yeah that was a long time ago seven8 years maybe maybe entrance feed to and oh wait actually last time I came here now I remember last time I came here the place was uh under maintenance they were doing some major Renovations but I think this maybe entrance feet to end destroying itself or Temple uh but I mean don’t to pay an entrance feat go here the tourist [Music] [Music] see how far up this hill we can make it before we have to pay any fees for yeah not my joint is doing that sound again [Music] spee [Music] yeah I think this is about as far as I will go otherwise I will not be able to pick up my daughter yeah here’s a place with a pretty nice view you see the kyota tower where I started a walk so it’s been an hour took an hour for me to walk up here probably could have done it quicker if I wanted to but yeah I was also exploring a little bit yeah now I should be starting to head back down in order to have us chance to to also show you a little bit of the of the city okay we can’t go up there that is unfortunate thank you Justin yeah well I mean I’m not going to end the stream anytime soon I’ll probably stream for another hour so uh but that we just start heading back and down from this mountain area start heading back to the city center [Music] down here that’s where we have really our overcrowded stuff overcrowded Street let’s see how it goes for how long I will cope walking down that street actually doesn’t look as bad as I feel we [Music] [Music] this is actually quite manageable for [Music] I think further down here we have this quite famous cherry blossom tree which fell over few weeks ago made a lot of people sad don’t know if we can still see some remains [Music] [Music] and now it’s getting a little bit sweaty maybe it was just just a little temporary traffic J [Music] [Music] yeah yeah I might want to take a little ice cream break a little bit further down that would be nice going to buy ice cream here though spee [Music] Terry BL tree was actually down there but I’m not going to go there I want to get away from from the crowds now I am contributing to the over car in problem [Music] [Music] I don’t want more crowds f up I when places are too crowded I don’t care how famous or nice they are I just don’t want to be there and that’s what I was feeling when I was up there this part of my t Japan tourism job uh yeah kind of like uh I mentioned it earlier but I was shooting a hotel uh until this morning not here in Kyoto but kind of near to Kyoto and now I’m just kind of transiting to through Kyoto on my way back to Tokyo and decided to do this little stream [Music] spee speech spee speech speech whole area empties out after 5 yeah I guess it’s like um like aaka then aaka also like super crowded in the daytime and then afterwards it’s very quiet and nice I would definitely want to come here at night but unfortunately I had to have to head home now so we just pass 200 viewers welcome everybody thanks for joining me on this little walk through Central Kyoto I’ve been walking for a little over an hour now started at Kyoto station and I just visited kyomi Zera which is the most famous temple in KY [Music] so yeah I’m heading towards Ki take the subway back to the main station for the sh house [Music] [Applause] got lots of school kids just ended it’s what day is it today it’s um Tuesday right yeah Tuesday you want to sell Apple after the iPad Pro ad yeah well I wrote that on Twitter right it was a little bit of hyperbowl but I really thought that that ad was really really tasteless and quite upsetting quite offensive um so but I guess I will I will continue using my MacBook Pro because it’s just the fastest and best machine for photo editing but yeah my my attitude towards Apple changed for the worse after seeing that ad I walking from kyota tocar of Tokyo would take you 108 hours so yeah at least two or three-part live stream then yeah that would be a good walk yeah I don’t know just this destroying things in general this kind of somewhat violent tone they were using in that b oh this is nice beautiful this peaceful alley will soon be overcrowded by tourists because of TV I don’t think so I don’t think my I don’t think my channel has that kind of influence I’m kind of glad it doesn’t where are we now no idea but it’s a beautiful place that much I do know K Temple name this place for spe face oh Blue Bottle Coffee over there where’s the exit think this is very small little tour is this exit come now yeah it’s a parking here so it should take me to some street here Justin yeah have I thought about any changes I want to do to the channel yes yes yes I do it’s just since mid-march I’ve just been too busy with other things so so we’ll see once this hotel project is over maybe I will have a little bit of time but then end of June we’re actually going to Sweden so then there won’t be any streets for a couple of months at least um we’re having our summer holiday trip to Sweden so maybe we have to wait I keep saying it’s it’s the sad reality is just that this channel is not giving me much in terms of income so I have to prioritize everything else even though it would be nice if I could just focus all my time and energy on making YouTube videos but unfortunately yeah the reality is pretty different down here I think the Leica store if I remember correctly think like one of these buildings it’s pretty discreet and easy to miss today too it’s like I’ve been walking for an hour and a and a half and all I’ve gotten is like one one Super Chat thank you for that y but yeah that can kind of probably explains there are much more profitable ways for me to to spend my time than going on these walks this the side streets which are of limits don’t really see any signs looks like it’s just open as usual yeah that’s what I thought too that some of these streets around here were of limits for non-residents okay no photography on private road it says don’t spread out and block District photography on private road but like then how do we know which roads are private it’s a very kind of strange strange sign it doesn’t really explain much was this a private road that I just walked on I have no idea anyway let’s head down towards the central parts of the City what I can tell if the street is wide enough for a car then it’s open okay I think I think Kyoto need to work a little bit more on their communication skills so that they can actually feel a little bit clearer about the rules and what people can and cannot do while ago I stayed at a hotel somewhere around here it was very nice or like the hotel was pretty basic but I enjoyed staying there because it was very nice to walk around here at night and great area for street photography as well you h [Music] I’m performance time is 90 minutes including in exhibition please ask for details so we’re crossing kamogawa again back to the Cityside for [Music] I [Music] I’m waiting here I’ll check the chat and see what you’re saying oh thank you Brad thank you thanks for showing up us your not favorite place in Japan I mean I have nothing against Kyoto kyot is a very nice city I just don’t like places that are too crowded it’s sadly the case for certain parts of the city but that’s the case for certain parts of Tokyo too so it’s like aaka or it’s me you know thank you and thank you Brad finally a few more Super chats making this walk a little bit more worthwhile thank you at least I think I got the cost of blocking all my camera gear in a coin Locker I think the cost for the coin Locker should be covered now as well as my lunch so thanks for that Brad me and jeny I think you are the only ones who super tired of this thisen much is over here yeah this building I really like this building especially at my chines restaurant that’s what it is look pretty cool looks quite Western yeah there that’s Pono right did they didn’t they close some streets there too do anyone know if these places are safe and right yes basically everywhere in Japan is safe at night with some exceptions if you’re like a solo female then maybe there are certain areas that you should be a little bit careful about but compared to any Western City Japan is way safer yeah let’s do a little scoll around here before wrapping up today’s video vogs along this canal are quite nice too think lost the hey Tony hey good morning on just one alley maybe yeah mix things up H let’s see let’s head down to on patol and see if we can walk through there I remember that Street being very very interesting I would like to check it [Music] out Lucy hi thanks for your emails sorry I didn’t have time to respond to you yet but thank you here we go this street basically it’s just a it’s a shop restaurant street so I guess they can’t really close this fore speee you want in yeah this street is beautiful at night look at all these tempting side alleys like do mommy something light something floating in the air a feeling beautiful poetry beautiful poetry there maybe we can pass through here and head back out to the main street looks like it Pono is pretty long so I don’t think I want to go all the way to the end cuz yeah I am running a little bit out of time so I need to wrap things up soon in order to make it back but this sake bar looks kind of place I would love to check out if I were actually spending the night around here away [Music] beautiful stream thank you thank you it smells smells scky looks like a very nightlife area not sure if I’ve been on exactly this street before but lots of good stuff around here good luck to that car trying to pass is this a dead end no it’s not a Blue Bottle Coffee yeah we passed two Blue Bottle Coffee on today’s stream maybe there’s a lot of them in Kyoto need more live streams like this one yeah thank you glad you’re enjoying it it’s nice I was honestly I was this close to not streaming I was very very tired today when I woke up and when I wrapped up today’s work it’s been so busy recently I think I’m a little overworked but uh actually now I feel much better it’s always nice to hang out with my viewers and I often have that feeling like I’m oh do I really want to stream today ah I don’t know I have the energy but then once I get started once I get all the comments and interactions with you then that gives me energy and makes me feel much better so thank you thank you all for joining me on my walks especially this one but in general but yeah I think I will wrap things up here at this big Crossing and hop on the subway back to the station and then Shin C and back home have some Bento on the train and just enjoy the view like to me riding the chansin is always that’s that’s itself it’s such a nice experience I really love it and especially like having a B Tour and make be also a beer it’s part of the shinkansen experience and especially when the weather is so nice like today it’s going to be a beautiful ride so I’m looking forward to that I’ve said it before but yeah every time I ride a shanson that’s like one of the times when I really feel grateful that I’m able to live here in Japan to have access to that kind of train and that’s awesome way of getting around the country that’s really a quality of life enhancer but yeah that will be it for today thank you so much for joining me and uh like I said I hope I really hope I’ll be able to do a stream from my next destination where I will be from Friday afternoon until Sunday noon so expect a stream sometime probably Friday evening or Saturday evening potentially Sun day Morning Noon could also be possible but yeah that’s it thanks so much for watching see you next time bye-bye hey do byebye cheers

  1. Ha ha ha. When TE waved goodbye, I was hoping one of those taxis would stop and open the door. 😅

  2. Enjoyable and relaxing walk even though i missed this almost completely😎Thank you anyway for this Kyoto walk T E🙂👍!!!

  3. Missed it as well. Looks like it was a good walk. Great day to be out and about. I will be heading to Kyoto in about a month for an event I hope. See you in another one.

  4. Kyomizudera… each time I go to Kyoto I ve to take a visit and the night tour of Fushimi Inari too! And last but not least the narrow Pontocho street is beautiful even during the day and at night. If you go there, watch out for the cats on the ceilings! They don’t make a sound but there are a lot of them! (At least during November 2023 😂)

  5. Better the shitty mainland usa its just 🤮 asia is better and hawaii I try to stay away from mainland craziness usa lol
