The sakura of 2024 were truly amazing! I almost wasn’t going to post a video about sakura this year, but after seeing how beautiful the blooms were, I knew I had to share it.
I also wanted to see how my new DJI Osmo Pocket 3 would capture the sakura. I used it to film this entire video (except for the zoo and fireworks scenes). I shot it in automatic mode. I can see how manual would work better on some scenes, but I’m happy with the overall look.
Also, because the Pocket 3 is so small, being able to shoot almost incognito is fantastic.

 recommended
 locations including the best night

 I’ve been living in Japan for more than
 three decades with a majority of those
 years spent in yukoh even after living
 here for that long Sakura season still
 surprises
 me the whole country goes from this to
 this all within about 2
 weeks there are so many beautiful places
 to see here are my top six Sakura
 viewing spots in yukoh
 neishi shinin
 Park this is one of the largest parks in
 Yokohama it was once home to a golf
 course and a horse racing
 track today it’s a Haven for all types
 of cherry
 blossoms a tunnel of so yosino
 trees this was filmed just after Peak so
 pedals blanket the ground

 here’s the back of the old horse racing
 stand the Sakura create a beautiful
 contrast between old and
 new as I walk beneath the trees I sense
 a connection to my
 ancestors and the joy they must have
 felt during springtime
 yam mate
 [Music]
 Park this location is known as the
 birthplace of tennis in
 Japan it’s also called Japan’s oldest
 public
 park yam mate’s cherry trees were
 planted over a century ago by Foreign
 residents the park hasn’t changed much
 over the
 years you can still sense the nostalgic
 Vibe of days gone
 by soak in the historic Ambiance of
 yokohama’s Hillside Retreat yam mate

 Park
 sanen step into the timeless beauty of
 this traditional
 [Music]
 location sanen is ranked on trip advisor
 as the second most popular place to
 visit in
 Yokohama number one is coming up later
 in the video

 the best times to visit the park are in
 Autumn and in Spring during Sakura
 [Music]
 season with cherry blossoms all around
 you it truly feels like a
 [Music]
 dream traditional mitarashi and kinako
 Dango in hot green tea too
 [Music]
 San Hara the gardens Creator moved
 historic buildings to the park from Kil
 Kamakura and other areas of
 Japan you can explore some of the
 buildings such as the former Yano Family
 Residence this was once the family’s
 private home from
 16003 to 186

 68 it’s the only historical building in
 the park open year round to the
 public I made a new friend along the
 way walk up the hill and you’ll find the
 famous
 pagota it was relocated to sanken in
 1914 from here you have a bird’s eyee
 view of the
 park back down to a river of cherry
 blossom
 petals seasonal Sakura muchi ice cream
 to close off our visit to
 sanken noyama
 park this is home to noyama zoo check

 this Monument commemorates Yokohama as
 the host City for volleyball during the
 1964 Tokyo
 Olympics noyama Park is a lively and
 vibrant destination during the Sakura
 season
 relax Under The Canopy of so Yoshino
 trees and gentle falling petals known as
 Sakura

 fubuki noyama Park is a great place to
 unwind especially during cherry blossom
 season
 orawa orawa is yokohama’s equivalent of
 the cherry blossoms along mego River in
 Tokyo but with fewer
 [Music]
 grounds this famous Yokohama river is 14
 km or 9 M long
 a nice way to enjoy the blossoms is by
 chartered tours or on yakata buun
 traditional Japanese dining
 boat there are a few restaurants along
 the
 street cherry trees were planted here as
 part of a Citywide initiative to
 beautify UK’s
 Waterfront they sure did a great job
 what a way to close off our stroll
 through old Kagawa with a magical
 display of Sakura
 fubuki Minato
 Mei during the Spring this is where the
 past and present blend in tantalizing
 views
 Sakura blooming amidst yokohama’s famous
 landscape is something to

 see matatu Mirai is a favorite among
 locals and tourists and has been voted
 as the number one place to visit in
 yukoh on trip
 advisor the view of cherer blossoms from
 this Waterfront area area is absolutely
 [Music]
 stunning it’s so easy to see why minatu
 Mirai is such a popular destination
 especially during cherry blossom
