The consensus mostly is that it’s just damage control from anycolor in a last ditch attempt to not make their Q4 stock reports look 60 feet under, hence also the recent announcements of merch and voice packs among other things featuring mostly later gen members.
They only have the rest of April to complete ’24 Q4.

They changed merch rules for both nijigen and virtual rhapsody so you can pick your merch instead of a gacha.
Obsydia 3d did not fare well compared to lazulight

Ethyria 3d, mario kart, virtual rhapsody (both HK and SG), AR live and the deluge of merch announcements were the last hurrahs of nijien

I actually don’t think it was intended as a distraction. Obviously it’s fulfilling that role now…but it was something they were finally getting done around the fall/winter time frame when they were all traveling to work on this stuff and were talking about cooking up some big things for next year.
Then Niji self-destructed big time in Feb 2024 and now they’ve left a huge black cloud hanging over all these events the livers had waited so long for.
Honestly I was expecting these to happen this year, I think they recorded the 3D debuts for Obsidya and Ethyria towards the end of last year (during the time the big girls off-collab happened), I was doubtful because Pomu wasn’t present but when she graduated in January it kinda confirmed they’d recorded the girls’ 3Ds. Likely they were going to release Obsidya 3D in march and subsequently the usual 3D group videos, then wait until after AR Live (and the start of the next quarter) to release Ethyria.

Then everything happened and now they’re panic releasing everything from 3Ds to merch before the financial year ends so their currently abysmal reports can look good
its gonna flop and Q4 aint gonna save them
This looks so forced, i’m happy for them ngl but negativity is not stopping anytime soon yet

This feels like a husband gift bombing his wife after beating the shit out of her.
Thry honestly should have done this back in 2022 and 2023 when nijiEN was still popular. They got lazy and complacent, and now they are trying to get their act together after the casual fanbase left.
Cause AR live is coming up I assume where they would use their 3D. Good luck to them, hope their hardwork pays off
