about me: 29-yo, born in France 🇫🇷 raised by Portuguese immigrants parents 👨‍👩‍👧‍👧🇵🇹 I never had the chance to travel when I was younger so, as soon as I managed to save up some money, I took off 🛫 At 19yo, I moved to live and study for a year in Athens, Greece 🇬🇷 At 22, I moved for an internship in Miami, USA 🇺🇸 before getting another opportunity to work and study in Montreal, Canada 🇨🇦 At 24, I did my last master degree semester as an exchanged student in São Paulo, Brazil 🇧🇷 Fell in love with the country, got a job, and been based in Rio de Janeiro ever since. After some personal health issues, I realized life is too short not to explore the world more… I’ve always loved documenting my days (journaling, scrapbooking) and knowing the next months would be full of travels, I thought, why not vlog it? I’m sure future-me will be very happy to look back at these videos! Hope you do too ☺️

Welcome back everyone! today, we’re traveling to a city about 45 minutes from Kyoto but first things first… we’re getting the train station’s stamp!! 😁 almost no room left in my notebook! (I am skipping pages to avoid ink overflow)

I woke up around 5:30AM today again 😮‍💨 I am starting to feel some travel exhaustion around 6:30AM, I joined the office workers in the train heading south of Kyoto I felt so bad for the office workers who were in full suit 🤵🏻 it was already 30°C!! 🥵

The landscapes we rode by were so beautiful! well-arrived you know me by now… this is one of the prettiest I’ve seen!! wow, you can already find some deer on the street leading to Nara Park! they are even crossing the road! ins’t it dangerous with the cars? look they are everywhere!

There are warning signs on the way to the park, you will find dozens of rice cakes stands you can feed the deer with the rice cakes – it’s a must-buy! as soon as I bought some, this smart one started to follow me 😂 I guess we’re friends now 😂

Let’s read the safety guidelines first! just a bit scary 😨 at first, I thought it might be hard to find the deer in the gigantic park… …but actually, they were everywhere you looked! and so adorable! the park itself was beautiful too so quiet and peaceful at 8am the morning light was splendid

🦌 engraved so majestic, the king of the forest! the babies are just so cute! fun fact: Nara deer are famous for bowing to visitors offering rices cakes 👀 okay, my first interaction with one of them…

The crackers fell on the floor and he got scared when I bent down to pick it up 🥺 I tried to show him the crackers on the floor but I confused him more 😅 is that a small bow? I bowed back and I confused him more 😂 bow, bow a successful interaction

More bow, more bow look at his friend wanting to join the party 😂 I will bow forever until you give me food!! let’s bow in unison I wanted to feed the baby but he got scared 🥹 trying to teach the elders some good manners 😂

I read that a lot of visitors don’t know about this little trick… So a lot of them feed the deer without bowing haha and now, locals are saying the deer are becoming rude, expecting to be fed unconditionally 🤣 no bowing, no rice cakes, sorry! I really wanted to feed the babies because they seemed more shy to get the rices cakes – but they were too scared 🥺 so their older siblings got them instead 😅 something to watch out for in Nara Park… deer poor everywhere! I wanted to visit Nara Park for the deer…

…but honestly, the park is so beautiful too, it’s worth visiting! look at the cute lobsters 🦞 it was my first time seeing these in the wild I set the camera and as I was walking by… he started to bow right away! well-deserved rice cake 💕 and he said thank you!

A friend of his joined us… … and he got jealous when I fed him!! 😱 okay, okay, here’s one for you also… 😅 AND THEN HE STARTED TO 💩 You can get some refreshments in the park as soon as you start feeding one, the others come around I got surprised hahaha something funny is about to happen, just you wait… I wanted to take a step back, just to not feel too overwhelmed… This one bit me!!

You can’t see because of my bag BUT I DID FEEL IT VERY WELL Here’s your rice cake, don’t kill me, please!! They look so peaceful… DON’T BE FOOLED!! This woman asked me where I bought the rice cakes (she didn’t see the stands) I shared some of mine with hers, so she wouldn’t have to walk back this deer saw me give her some cakes, and he started to follow her around 😂 they are VERY smart!

Be careful of the ones with antlers they can be more aggressive I was scared for this couple haha you can keep a distance and zoom on them with your camera so beautiful oh, he’s coming my way… I never visit zoos or parks where animals are caged/enclosed in Nara, the deer are free to walk around and meet visitors (or not!)

The rice cakes are bonus for them, they have other (and much more!) sources of alimentation where are you going made another friend! such a beautiful day I headed back towards the entrance the big touristic buses had started to arrive (around 9AM) here you can buy Omiyage! everything is deer-themed

I watched poor tourists getting swarmed by deer haha this poor guy cracked open a package in the middle of a group of deer… …and he suffered the consequences 🤣 he literally got cornered against the stall 🤣 I would feel overwhelmed too try to avoid big groups of deer and privilege one-on-one interactions 😅

I loved visiting Nara park 🥰 I left when the sun got too strong can I be fully honest with you? I think my favorite part of this trip was actually… the TRAIN RIDE! I mean… look at the vibrant colors! it looks like it’s edited but it’s not!

The mountains in the distance it felt like I had jumped into a Ghibli movie I loved seeing the residential areas too doesn’t it look fake because of how perfect it is? 😅 it looks like impressionism back in Kyoto! hope you enjoyed today’s vlog! 😊

Comment a 🦌 if you’ve watched until the end! 😍

  1. Thank you everyone for your patience ❤ And for all your kind messages to support me while I was still going through the aftershocks of the earthquake in Taiwan 🥺 that wasn't fun 😭 but your messages warmed my heart!

Hope you enjoy today's video ☺🦌

PS: this time, the subtitles have been added automatically… Tell me if the quality is good! 👀

  2. Hello, milo-San. Are you still in Japan? Actually, today the Japan Meteorological Agency announced that the cherry blossoms in Tokyo are blooming. Milo-San must have seen the cherry blossoms. And this blog was a real Ghibli video! You will go out to see the cherry blossoms. The subtitles were also very good. thank you very much.🦌🍘

  6. Can I know what train you took from Kyoto to Nara to see that beautiful landscape??? Normally I don't see anyone taking that beautiful scenic ride to see the deers. Also seem the trick is go further into the park since most tourist stayed in the entrance now I wanna explore the whole park.

  7. So many deers 😯I mean, I knew there were some but didn't think…and it's very nice to see them roam around free (I hate zoos and such). Also the train ride is truly Ghibli-esque ahah Thanks for sharing and I'm glad you're feeling a bit better after the earthquake 💖

  8. 自動字幕は概ねわかりますが、時々わかりにくいところもありますね 奈良公園はツクツクボーシの鳴き声に爽やかな夏の朝を感じました
