I went out to Nagasaki to ride the West Kyushu Shinkansen, which opened a year ago.
Even though it was the end of September, it was really hot that day. Well, thanks to that, cold beer tasted good.
Kumamoto Station I took the 8:39 a.m. Shinkansen. Sandwich with filet mignonette and minced pork cutlet A beer in the morning is a special treat. Transfer Transferring again I arrived at my destination, Nagasaki Station. It seems that the redevelopment will be completed soon. This is the hypocenter of the atomic bomb dropped in 1945.
Peace Park A place of prayers for world peace and the souls of the atomic bomb victims. Peace Statue symbolizing the Nagasaki citizens’ wish for peace. Nagasaki Chinatown Simmered pork bun Dejima This artificial island was built during the Edo period as part of the national isolation policy.
It was the only open contact point to Europe in Japan at that time. The building of those days has been restored. I see roof tiles are used in the ditches. The building was used as a residence for Dutch ship captains and merchantmen. First Ship Captain’s Quarters
It’s a Japanese-style room, but the wallpaper is interesting in that it is not Japanese. Dutch Employee’s Room Chief Factor’s Residence It’s lovely. Tatami mats and chandeliers match each other surprisingly well. Miniature Dejima The sun will soon be setting. It was sunny and hot today, but finally cooled down. Hi Grandpa.
I checked into the hotel. Yes, it’s an Izakaya! Sashimi (Yellowtail Amberjack) Steamed Squid Dumpling Hatoshi(shrimp toast) I had two beers and two glasses of shochu each and enjoyed Nagasaki’s local delicacies.

さて、この旅行中に主さんは何杯ビールを飲むのでしょうか😋🍺
Thank you for this. That was a highlight and I was strongly reminded of the novel of David Mitchell "The thousand autumns of Jacob de Zoet" .
Also good to see the memorial which made me think back.😢

Peace park was so lovely and it was something to see after sustaining that bomb, ironically currently there is a movie about the creator of this horrible weapon.

次の軍艦島楽しみ❤
Gosto de cidades menores, acho essa mais interessante que tokyo ,por exemplo .Obrigada pelo vídeo.
Everything in Japan seems so neat and clean and PRECISE, it USED TO BE like that in most of the US. Now all is chaos in most places. I live in the heartland, flyover country, here things are basically like the US used to be. I admire the culture of orderliness and a consciousness of the merits of ORDER.
Nice place, I enjoyed
Nagasaki has so much beauty and historical significance beyond the tragedy of the atomic bomb. I have seen and read much regarding Hiroshima, however, this gives me pause to commit to learning more about Nagasaki. Thank you, dear friend. Your travel vlogs have a style about them very conducive to historical research.
Amo ver Japón desde tus ojos. Lo que vivió Nagasaki es una memoria para toda la humanidad. Gracias por todo lo que nos das. Un saludo desde España.
❤
Thank you for the informative and delightful excursion to Nagasaki. Your camera work is excellent, and I admire the beautiful shots of the river with the twin bridges (megane bashi) toward the end. What amazing engineering and handiwork are on display. On a smaller scale, you are masterful in your handiwork on your cabin. Impressive and ingenious. We all have to pace ourselves as we get older, so please don't push yourself too much, although I greatly admire your persistence. I'm sure you will continue your work silently, but we are enjoying your good words, on the video now, My wife is from Kyushu–maybe you will take a small voyage down there sometime in the future. Thanks for your fun videos in the meantime and do take care. (My wife and I walked a lot when we visited delightful Kobe and Yokohama recently. My poor knee is worn out after 71 years of endurance, and I'm getting a knee replacement next month so I can keep on enjoying the Japanese countryside and cities.)
Obrigada por nos dar a oportunidade de conhecer coisas maravilhosas do seu pais 🇧🇷 obrigada samurai
Do you visit the onsens?would you like to build one at the cabin or maybe you can sit in the river near your cabin?
