I have a question. Are Nissan Silvia S15’s made in the year 2000 legal to import to the US? I googled and saw that it’s legal to import S15’s as of January but they don’t specify if they have to be made in 1999. Is it like a blanket thing? Like all S15s from 99-02 are now legal to import or do I have to settle for one made in 1999?

Pretty sure the rule is 24 or 25 yrs old. All that started because Bruce Canepa wanted street legal Porsche 959’s in the US. So I’ve heard.
25 years from the date of manufacture.
It’s a hard 25 year rule. As of right now, it’s any car manufactured in February of 1999 or previous. And as long as the vehicle is 25 years old when it lands at the port, it’s fine. So you could have a vehicle manufactured in March of 99 shipped out sometime this week or next and it would be fine as long as it arrives on or after March 1st.
The month and date has to be 25 years ago by the time the boat lands in the states
Thank you to everyone who commented. I now know everything I need to know to import a Silvia. I really appreciate the help peoples 🙏
Welp, it’s 2024 now, so no worries ¯_(ツ)_/¯
PS: The R34 Skyline is now 25 yrs. old and is now legal to import to the US, so that’s a yes for the S15 as well
