This time, I went on a business trip to Nagoya for one night and two days. There are many delicious local gourmet foods in Nagoya, so I look forward to eating them while I’m taking a break from work.
Nagoya is a city located between Tokyo and Kyoto/Osaka, so it’s also a great place to stop by during your trip to Japan. Please enjoy your trip to Nagoya to the end♪ Hello. Today I’m heading to Tokyo Station to catch the Shinkansen. Arrived in Tokyo. From here, take the Shinkansen.
Well, today I’m off to Nagoya with plans for 1 night and 2 days. I’m glad that I have a lot of opportunities to go to Nagoya this year. And we have already purchased ekiben to eat on the Shinkansen. Today I went to “Grand Star” located in the basement of the station.
To enjoy the ekiben later, we will board the Shinkansen first. Well, let’s have it as soon as I leave! This is what I bought today! Looks delicious… The name is straightforward: Toro, Uni, Salmon Roe (1980 yen). This time I bought it at “Tsukiji Takewaka Gransta Store” in Gransta.
This visual is irresistible. I’ll have it right away♪ It’s so delicious…it’s sweet and melts in your mouth… No matter where you eat it, it tastes like the star of the show. I’m wondering if it’s okay to call this an ekiben lol. I couldn’t stand this visual so I bought it.
Luxurious with plenty of sea urchin! The sea urchin also has a rich flavor. The medium-fatty meat is also delicious…the balance between fatty and lean meat is good. I think I’m eating the most delicious food on this Shinkansen, where there are probably 500 people on board. Wow, it was delicious…Thank you for the meal!
Full and happy, the Shinkansen took me smoothly to Nagoya. The journey time from Tokyo to Nagoya is approximately 90 minutes. I spent my time working while imagining delicious food that I would eat locally. Nagoya. Now, we have arrived in Nagoya! .
Once again, this time it’s a one-night, two-day schedule, and I’m planning to return tomorrow afternoon. However, I will also make sure to make time to enjoy delicious food. Well, first, take the subway from Nagoya Station to Sakae Station. Let’s go eat lunch before work!
So, the first place I came to was a ramen shop called “Kagura Shrimp and Sea Bream Fishing Mendo”. The shrimp ramen here seems to be delicious, so I was looking forward to it. I’m also curious about the shrimp mazesoba…
Today, I ordered “Shrimp White Water Ramen” as planned. Moreover, it is specially made (1400 yen). We also open a pub at night. Oh, this is gorgeous too! . It’s luxurious all the way from inside the Shinkansen to here. The toppings on the side look delicious too. Well then, let’s start with the soup.
Well, it’s delicious… The shrimp soup is effective. Of course it’s rich, but it’s light and easy to drink. Anyway, the shrimp flavor is perfect. Of course, the noodles soaked in this soup are also delicious. The noodles are soft and coat the soup well.
The small pieces of shrimp floating in the soup were also plump. It’s enough to satisfy even without toppings. Of course we also have toppings. Adding chopped onions makes it light and refreshing. The chashu is quite big. When mixed with this soup, all the ingredients become shrimp-flavored.
This char siu is delicious…it’s moist and filling. We also added Taiwanese minced meat and seaweed to make it a delicious and complete meal until the last bite. Nagoya is a city with a big image of shrimp. Let’s start with the first meal. I was able to fully enjoy Nagoya’s typical gourmet food.
Thank you for the meal. Now, let’s go to another place♪ The next one is also a standard restaurant in Nagoya… I came to this store after a short walk. The name of the shop is “Sekai no Yamu-chan.”
There is also a famous restaurant in Nagoya called “Sekai no Yamachan” that serves delicious chicken wings. The two names are similar… This store is said to be an affiliated store of “Sekai no Yamachan.” The inside of the store has a nice atmosphere with red lanterns hanging down.
It looks like a night market in Taiwan. What you can get here is so-called dim sum. After looking around the store, I decided to take a look at the menu. Everything looks delicious. It’s nice to be able to order a little at a time.
Today we have the “Recommended Dim Sum Set” (6 pieces/1100 yen). Let’s try this “Phantom Nagoya Gyoza” (470 yen). I also ordered a beer (460 yen), although it was non-alcoholic since I was at work. I thought this was necessary visually lol. Well then, let’s have beer at noon♪
It’s delicious…even without alcohol, you can fully enjoy the atmosphere. And the fantastic Nagoya gyoza. We use the same “phantom pepper” as “Yama-chan” chicken wings. It also looks delicious with gyoza. After all, it looks even more delicious when there are gyoza next to the beer. Delicious♪ So juicy.
The pepper gives it a tangy flavor. This makes me want to pair it with beer. Ah, it’s delicious… First, let’s have beer and gyoza. Next is the thin skin xiao long tang bao (150 yen). It’s nice that it comes out in a bamboo steamer♪ Be careful not to get burned… Ah, delicious…warm.
This makes me want to gulp it down. The filling is also moist and delicious. And dim sum. This is gorgeous♪ Their all-star dishes include dried shellfish shumai and shrimp and chive buns. The colors are nice and it stands out. Each piece seems to be quite heavy.
It’s packed with plenty of food and is very satisfying to eat. And the beer you drink with it is also delicious. The shrimp on top were also plump and had a lot of presence. I wonder why shrimp goes so well with shumai… The other dim sum was delicious and I finished it.
Next time I’d like to come at night and have some alcoholic drinks with it lol. I thoroughly enjoyed this Nagoya-style restaurant that is part of the “Sekai no Yamachan” chain. Ah, it was delicious…Thank you for the meal! Well, there’s just one more place to go before work.
I came to the “Mazu Odori Sohonten” located a little south of Sakae Station. Enjoy dessert at a long-established Japanese confectionery shop founded in 1856. The restaurant has a calm atmosphere and there is also a pond. Carp were also swimming.
Once you are seated, take a look at the menu. There are also meals such as rice balls. I’m also curious about shaved ice… This time I ordered the famous warabi mochi (900 yen). Oh, this is the first visual I’ve seen. Warabi mochi stays cool on ice.
Soybean flour and brown sugar syrup are next to it. The whitish color is apparently due to the coating of potato starch on the surface to prevent it from drying out. Immediately add soybean flour and brown sugar syrup… I think it would have been better to put them in the opposite order lol.
I’ll have it for now♪ delicious! It’s chewy. You may have never experienced this texture before. The piece is large and feels heavy when held with chopsticks. The flavor of brown sugar syrup and soybean flour is also outstanding. This turned out to be a happy dessert.
The atmosphere inside is calm, but there are surprisingly many young people here. It’s true that they have shaved ice and other sweets as well. I was able to enjoy unique warabi mochi at a historic restaurant. Complete meal. By the way, I found out after this business trip was over…
This restaurant also seems to have delicious sweet potatoes, so if you’re interested, please check it out. Today I will buy Tokoroten (540 yen). I was curious if it would be delicious to eat with red miso, so I bought it and took it home.
Now that you’ve enjoyed the local gourmet food, there’s still something to do. I finished my lunch work while looking forward to dinner. Night. Well, I’m done with work, so let’s go have dinner. This area is lively even at night. Pass through the area crowded with people.
First, I’m going to go to the ramen shop that I was interested in. The location of the shop is right near the coffee shop “Bonbon”, which I have been to before. I entered a shop called “Gin no Kura.” Apparently, this is a shop frequented by celebrities.
The main dish of the restaurant is the rich miso ramen. There are various lineups just for miso. I think I’ll try this “Miso Garlic Butter Ramen”. It is also topped with corn (1100 yen). Garlic came out on a separate plate first. Oh, there’s a lot in there.
I’m happy because I like all the ingredients. Enjoy the soup with melted butter. Delicious♪ It’s as rich as it looks. The rich flavor of miso and the butter combine to create an exquisite taste. Of course the noodles would be delicious too. The noodles were also as expected.
The noodles are curly and soak up a lot of the soup. This chopsticks will continue to progress. It’s hearty and has plenty of ingredients. The corn looks delicious and shines. Also add garlic to change the taste. It’s unusual to have garlic in it, but the flavor is good.
This is certainly the type of ramen that you would want to eat regularly if you lived nearby. I thoroughly enjoyed the rich and delicious miso ramen. Thank you for the meal. By the way, I’m also curious about this shop next to “Gin no Kura”…
It seems to be a chicken yakiniku restaurant. I’d like to go there someday. Now, with a heavy stomach from the voluminous ramen, I headed to the next restaurant. Next we came to Kushikatsu Lovely, a restaurant that serves Nagoya’s famous kushikatsu and oden.
This restaurant seems to be popular with locals, so I was looking forward to it. Let’s start with alcohol♪ I ordered a highball (500 yen). The appetizer came with cabbage that went well with the kushikatsu. More food has arrived! Looks delicious… Potato salad (440 yen). This is an assortment of miso oden (550 yen).
First, I’ll have a highball… Delicious♪ I can’t say enough about the great atmosphere. The potato salad is pasty and mellow. The taste of potato salad varies depending on the restaurant. And miso oden. Oh, it’s so delicious… The beef tendon is melty and delicious with a mellow miso flavor.
Eggs and deep-fried tofu also go great with miso. This is sure to be delicious♪ The radish should have been thoroughly cooked, but the inside was still very juicy. And there was a miso oden pot over there. I want to buy that whole pot lol. If you taste such doteni with alcohol…
Let’s order just a few more. First up is the Miso Kushikatsu (110 yen). Pork cutlet marinated in miso. Yes, it’s delicious♪ The sweet and salty miso goes perfectly with the soft kushikatsu. It was surprisingly small. It would have been better to order some of these. I also ordered “Negima” (220 yen).
Generally, “Negima” uses chicken, but this one was made with pork. Ah, this is delicious! . It’s juicy and fatty. The amount of salt is perfect, and you can eat as much as you want. The other item is “Torinankotsu” (220 yen). It’s soft and delicious♪ The atmosphere of the restaurant is nice.
There are a lot of people after work, and everyone is free to relax. I also enjoyed delicious drinks and food. Okay, then let’s go to the next store. Thank you for the meal! . Well, I forgot to take a picture of the exterior, but next time I’ll go to this store.
The name of the shop is “Yama-chan of the world a notch higher”. This store is also an affiliated store of “Sekai no Yamachan.” Enter the store and take a look at the menu. They have dishes that are a little more expensive than “Sekai no Yamachan”.
In addition to the famous “phantom chicken wings”, grilled fish is also recommended. Beer for now♪ I chose the Sapporo lager Akahoshi (690 yen). I’ll have it right away. Ah, it’s delicious… It’s refreshing because it’s a little hot outside. The signature menu, chicken wings, are neatly stacked (600 yen).
It’s been a while since I’ve eaten chicken wings from Yama-chan. Please take one from the top. Yes, it’s delicious♪ The sweet and spicy taste is irresistible. This is the perfect accompaniment to beer. I feel like I can eat as many of these as I want. I also placed an additional order.
“Uni crystal” (680 yen). A special dish made with shark cartilage mixed with salted sea urchin. The crunchy texture of shark cartilage is good. The mellow sweetness of sea urchin is also delicious. And the grilled fish I ordered earlier.
It seems that there is no rainbow trout (980 yen) on the menu that day, so this is Yamame trout. The body is moist and plump. It’s salty too. I wonder why the combination of river fish and salt tastes so delicious… I only ordered a small amount today.
Next time, I would like to take my time and enjoy this calm space. Complete meal. Well then, let’s go to just one last place. I returned to the front of Nagoya Station where my inn was located. The store is located just outside the Taiko-dori exit of Nagoya Station.
I came to Ramen Hongotei Meieki branch. This ramen restaurant is popular with locals. Now that I think about it, this is my third bowl of ramen today lol. The standard dish at this restaurant is the hot water ramen (850 yen).
Take a seat at the counter near the entrance. Apparently there are seats on the second floor as well. Oh~ this is definitely delicious too… The chashu is huge. Well then, let’s have it right away♪ Ah, it’s delicious… The thick soup is so gentle… The moderately firm noodles also go well with the soup.
After all, if the soup is delicious, all the other ingredients will also be delicious. Wow, that’s a thick cut. And even though it’s thickly sliced, it’s surprisingly soft. This also makes me want rice. No, this ramen is delicious. Of course the eggs are also creamy.
It’s a flavor that makes me want to eat it all of a sudden, and I think I’d go there if it were in my hometown. I thoroughly enjoyed the addictive flavor of the ramen. Thank you for the meal! . All-you-can-eat rice is appealing. This will make you fat if you’re not careful.
Okay! Then let’s go back to the hotel. I have to go home early tomorrow, but I’m going to eat around as much as time allows. Next day. Well, today’s schedule is all complete. I’m thinking of having lunch before I go home. I will go to Sakae Station again today. Across the busy street…
The place I came to was a commercial facility called “Lasique.” Take the elevator to the 8th floor. I entered “Maruha Shokudo Lachic” in a corner of the restaurant area. It is a long-established store founded in 1950, and its main store is located in Minamichita, Aichi Prefecture.
As you can see, you can enjoy delicious seafood♪ The restaurant’s specialty is the giant fried shrimp. So, I chose the “Maruha set meal” which comes with fried shrimp (1,630 yen). As I waited while looking out at the open view from the window… Oh, it looks delicious♪
Come to think of it, this is my first time eating seafood on this business trip. . And the fried shrimp is also big. Add tartar sauce. I’m going to eat it all…I’m going to eat it. delicious! It’s so satisfying to eat.
It has the succulent feel typical of shrimp, and the size makes it extremely chewy. It’s long so you can enjoy it a lot. The sashimi is amberjack and sea bream. Of course it’s plump and fresh. That’s sweet. Next time, I’d like to order a variety of items while drinking alcohol.
By the way, fried shrimp is good to eat as is or with Sanbai vinegar. I completely overlooked the instructions on how to eat it lol. Ah, it was delicious…Thank you for the meal! . Thank you for the meal. Now, one more house. I came to a store called “Sore”.
What you can enjoy here is Nagoya’s specialty, “Ankake Spa.” This shop is said to be the origin of Ankake Spa. There are also various types of Ankake Spa. Take a look at the menu… This time, I chose “Tamako Yose” (950 yen), which is one of the shop owner’s recommendations.
As you can see, it has a lot of volume. Oh, something good was hidden. Add lots of red bean paste… I’ll have it♪ delicious! I wanted to eat this. It has a tangy and spicy flavor that will whet your appetite.
The pork cutlet covered with red bean paste is just the right thickness and goes well with spaghetti. It stays hot and steamy even while you’re eating it. I looped pork cutlet and spaghetti and finished it all at once. I thoroughly enjoyed “Ankake Spa” at the shop where it originated. Complete meal
Then let’s go back to Nagoya Station. Now, all that’s left to do is get on the Shinkansen and go home… I have a little free time, so I only have one more place! . Let’s end here. “Ajisen JR Nagoya Station store”. It’s a restaurant where locals gather, and I like it too.
There are several Ajisen restaurants in Nagoya, and the menu and prices vary slightly depending on the location. And I always order “garlic fried rice”… Today I tried this Taiwanese fried rice (990 yen). This looks delicious too. I also ordered chicken wings for the first time (550 yen).
So let’s start with Taiwanese fried rice. Yes, it’s delicious♪ It is spicier than garlic fried rice. You can really feel the grains of ground meat that are the source of the spiciness. This minced meat is said to be the same as the one in the popular Taiwanese ramen.
It’s a taste that makes you want to squeeze more and more. Chicken wings too♪ Be prepared for your hands to be sticky. Oh, it’s quite spicy. Even in the sweet sauce, you can really feel the spiciness. I think this would be ideal to have with beer.
I still have work to do, so that’s all for today. If I come to Nagoya again, I would like to visit Misen again. Ah, it was delicious…I was satisfied♪. Well then, let’s go home! . Once you get on the Shinkansen, you’ll be in Tokyo in no time.
With this, I’ll be in Tokyo in 90 minutes… When I thought about it, I was in Tokyo almost 24 hours ago. Arriving at noon and leaving at noon, it feels like a short stay for 1 night and 2 days. Well, I was still able to eat quite a bit.
I’ll definitely come back next time to check out the other shops I’m interested in. On the way back, I got off at Shin-Yokohama. Thank you very much until the end! Please join us again next time. Please also see the next video!

it was fun! Nagoya is a big city, so I am very interested in it. My impression is that there are many impressive dishes such as ramen and fried shrimp.
You just added a trip to Nagoya to my Japan trip in May, I have to try this shrimp ramen 😊
But according to google the Sekai no Yamu-chan is permanently closed 😢 Can you also get the Dim Sum at Yamachan?
Your journey is always exciting! I can't wait for the next video!
