◆Gran Class is a more luxurious seat than the green car on the Japanese Shinkansen and is available on the Tohoku and Hokkaido Shinkansen (E5 and H5 series), the Joetsu Shinkansen (E7 and W7 series), and the Hokuriku Shinkansen (E7 series).
Luckily, I got a chance to ride it a week before Christmas this year.

Sorry, I miscalculated!😖
I wish that we had these trains here in Canada; a trip between Toronto and Montreal would be fast and amazing.
I just subscribed. 🙂 An expensive ticket, but you did get your money's worth! Everything was included, not too bad at all. What a sublime way to travel. Already saving up for my Japan-trip in a year or two/three!
If you ever come to England don't bother trying our First Class trains, they're worse than your best economy carriages.
Nice video, thx for the trip!
Bullet train looks slow though. Were you going really fast?
What's surprising is the amount of stability they managed to maintain at that high velocity of around 300 KMPH.
I lived in Japan for 3 years back in the late 60's. The trains are ON TIME, to the minute. Set your watch by it. One thing about the Japanese people is they have respect. Notice, you don't see graffiti, trash on the floor or torn up upholstery. They respect their surroundings.
Why don't we have a high speed railway in the us 😔
does this shinkansen apply towards jr pass?
almost 20,000 pesos😲 oh no 1 month salary🤣😥
You would like us to tell you if we have a similar train in our countries? You are being funny – right? There is no country at the moment that has a similar train – with comparable experience. Japan is in a league of its own here. Japan's train technology as well as attention to detail is amazing. The HAYABUSA and KOMACHI are bound by magnet – and yet remain tight even at high speed. The cost of this trip – in my country (South Africa) – would be the same as the price of the flight ticket from Johannesburg to Cape Town. The distance between the two cities is about 1262 km's (784 miles). I will visit Japan only to ride on this train! Well done on the video – Kuga. Please try to show your face! I forgot – we have the Rovos Rail – which is some kind of a train-hotel – operating a regular schedule on various routes throughout Southern Africa, from South Africa to Namibia and Tanzania. It is a different type of service though – caters for a select few – and is very expensive.
I live in US and I don’t think we have luxury trains like yours
I have a questions
1. If I'm a tourist and a JR Pass Holder for Green Line, how much can I upgrade this service?
2. How to continue the trip into Sapporo?
Beautiful and Spacious. Wow.
Thank you for taking us with you on your travels 🙂
Imagine traveling from Chicago to NYC like this. It would be amazing.
Wonderful trip! Thanks for sharing!
I’m embarrassed for being American. Japan is light years ahead of us.
Greetings from Singapore. I love all your videos and hope to revisit Japan again. 😊
Love your videos! and commentary! Thank you for sharing, hope you get to go on many more trains around the world!
If I was billionaire, I'd be super commuter on Hayabusa. Live up north and go 200mph every day to Tokyo office lol
Concord is dead but not in Japan with Hayabusa. True luxury like quiet wealth.
got to go on hayabusa from ueno all the way to hokkaido, it was such a good experience even in the ordinary class seats.
great legroom, comfy chairs, fast and punctual.
i would so love to come back here again for the trains themselves.
Japan is proof that homogenous cultures do better than multicultural ones.

私はドイツ人で、日本の特急列車が大好きです。
Super 👍
Is the view lounge free access to shinkansen green car? Or there is a credit card needed
Maybe one day I will direct project , bullet train to travel from Los Angeles Ca . to New York , in one hour . I always had dream to be like my dad , who was project manager of Universal American Enterprise . Who knows ?
I do not want to own it , just employee , as project manager . Someone else could own it , one day I will full fill my dream .
Or chief engineer position would do it also .
I wonder if any car co. owner would be interested to own new design , who would be the richest man ? I wonder .
How about Tesla owner ? He might be interested in to own very first bullet train in new design to perform , from Los Angeles Ca. to New York in one hour ? I am not looking to get rich , I just love engineering .
Looks like Paris Châtelet-Les Halles.
can use JR pass?
7:01 not GPS but TRain went crazy!
Sadly, Canada’s passenger rail infrastructure is in a state of disrepair. My sincere apologies, Kuga😢
