This time, I’d like to share with you my morning food tour in Hakata, Fukuoka Prefecture.
I went to eat at 4 different restaurants, but I was in a hurry because the udon noodles in particular increased in size as they absorbed the soup stock, and wouldn’t go down even after I ate them lol.
Please look forward to the continuation of this video, which will be uploaded at a later date.

Good morning. Today I am in Hakata, Fukuoka Prefecture. I’m staying here for work and plan to return to Tokyo in the evening. However, I was looking forward to eating Fukuoka gourmet food while I was away from work♪ First, I’m thinking of eating at a few restaurants before heading to work.
The first one is a building adjacent to Hakata Station. Aim for the basement of Hakata Bus Terminal. There are various shops here as well. I got off the escalator… I came to “Maki no Udon Hakata Bus Terminal Branch”. This is a popular udon restaurant in Fukuoka.
Purchase a meal ticket. I chose “burdock tempura udon” (490 yen). Hakata in Fukuoka is said to be the birthplace of Japanese udon and soba. Therefore, there are many udon restaurants in Fukuoka, but this one is special among them. I’ve been waiting♪ There is soup stock in the kettle next to it.
It is said that no matter how much you eat this udon, it will not lose weight. You can still see quite a lot of noodles at this point. Udon absorbs the soup stock and expands rapidly, so it does not shrink. Iriko soup stock is very delicious♪
And udon too. I can feel the weight of the chopsticks. The udon noodles themselves are quite thick. Fukuoka udon is characterized by its soft and chewy texture. This restaurant does not add water to the noodles to give them a chewy texture.
However, this will make it easier to absorb the soup stock and the noodles will increase in volume. Burdock root is also sweet and delicious. It’s crunchy and has a good texture. If you look closely, you’ll notice that the amount of udon has increased since the beginning lol.
I sipped it a few times, but it doesn’t seem like it’s gone down much. Let’s hurry because it won’t be finished if we don’t eat quickly. However, the softness of udon noodles does not change that much over time. With this, you’ll be able to eat deliciously until the end.
Then I added the soup stock for the first time. I’m scared of increasing the amount, but it’s hard to eat just noodles. But the noodles have been decreasing little by little. I’m relieved that the end is in sight lol.
I feel like I want to experience the fact that no matter how much I eat, I don’t lose weight. However, there are other stores I want to visit today, so I’ll save it for the next time. By the way, this restaurant is also known for its quick delivery of udon noodles.
As a result, the store’s turnover is fast, and customers are constantly changing. Add the green onions placed on the table and proceed to eat. It’s close to Hakata Station, so it’s great for traveling. I thoroughly enjoyed Hakata’s unique udon noodles. Thank you for the meal! The udon was very delicious.
Well, I still have some room in my stomach, so I’ll eat some more before work. Take the escalator to the shop next to the bus terminal. I came to “Mutchan Manju Hakata Bus Terminal Branch”. “Mutchan Manju” is a local specialty in Hakata that has been around for over 30 years.
“Mutchan” seems to refer to the mudskipper that lives in the Ariake Sea. There seem to be several types, but this time I chose the most popular, ham and egg (190 yen). It’s warm♪ I’ll eat it right away. It is thicker than normal taiyaki and has a mudskipper shape.
Yes, it’s delicious♪ The salty flavor goes well with the soft dough. The inside is fluffy. It’s thick and satisfying to eat. The ham and egg inside also goes well with the dough. I would like to try something sweet next time. It’s a local gourmet dish with an addictive taste.
When traveling, I think it’s easier to go to this store or the Gofukumachi store. Enjoy the local specialties♪ Thank you for the meal! . Next, we headed to the shopping center “Mying” inside Hakata Station. What I’m looking for is the Umegae Mochi (130 yen) from a shop called Matsushima Chaten.
The surface is nicely browned. Be careful as it is freshly made and hot. Yes, it’s delicious! The surface is crispy and the inside is chewy. The surface color is also good. The subtle sweetness of the bean paste is also exquisite. “Umegaeda Mochi” is a specialty of “Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine” in Fukuoka Prefecture.
The deity enshrined at Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine is Michinaga Sugawara. There are various theories about the origin of the name, including one that it was stabbed on a plum branch and given to Michinaga Sugawara. Thank you for the meal! Now, after eating, take the escalator to the basement.
I came to “Mikazukiya CAFE Hakata Station Branch”. A popular croissant specialty store in Hakata. I’m going to do some work here until the scheduled time. There is also a simple croissant and drink set… This time, let’s make a croissant with fillings in between.
I had a set of shrimp and egg croissant and iced cafe latte (950 yen). The yellow eggs and red shrimp are so colorful♪ I’ll enjoy having this. It might spill if you don’t hold it carefully. Ah! This is delicious. The dough is sweet♪ The texture is of course crispy.
The creamy egg and plump shrimp go well together, and it’s hearty. I love the unique chewy texture of croissants. I love the sweetness of the dough and the texture of the folded layers, so I often buy it when I go to a bakery. It’s also delicious to eat with butter at home.
Iced cafe latte is also a perfect combination for breakfast (although it’s my 4th meal). Well, after this I worked until the scheduled time. That’s all for today. The next video will be uploaded as well, so please take a look! Look forward to the next video!
