The waterfalls are formed by the Edessa River, which originates from the mountains of Kaimaktsalan. The river drops 70 meters in height, creating a magnificent spectacle of cascading water. Visitors can view the waterfalls from various viewpoints, including a bridge that crosses the river below the falls.

There is also a small cave you can visit for a small price. The rest of the area is free to visit, but only 2 of the 12 waterfalls are easily visible.

The area around the waterfalls is also a popular destination for hiking, with several trails leading through the lush green forests that surround the falls. Visitors can also enjoy a boat ride in the river, which passes under the falls, offering a unique perspective of the cascading water.

In addition to its natural beauty, Edessa Waterfalls also has historical and cultural significance. The town of Edessa has a long and rich history, dating back to ancient times, and is home to several historic sites, including the ancient city of Aiges, the Byzantine Castle of Edessa, and the Ottoman-era Hammam.

Overall, Edessa Waterfalls is a must-see destination for anyone visiting northern Greece, offering a stunning display of nature’s beauty and a glimpse into the region’s rich history and culture.
