Photos help us remember moments in our lives. When we look at our photos, we will think of special moments during those trips. Beautiful photos can also inspire others to visit those places. In this episode, I have some ideas for photogenic spots in Samui and Krabi to share with you!

1. COCOON VIEWPOINT

Only 7-min ride from Samui International Airport, we are here at Cocoon Viewpoint. This location on the northeastern part of the island is truly a hidden gem. The panoramic view overlooking the ocean is breathtaking. We can also see the runway at the airport from here. Many people love to stop by here for a cup of coffee before going to the airport. Let’s talk to David, my Expat friend from France. He has some perspectives about Samui to share with us.

2. OVERLAP STONE

Southeastern part of Koh Samui is a location for Overlap Stone. This is a unique spot with incredible views of Lamai beach and the surrounding lush green trees. This huge stone perched on the top of a cliff is a wonderful background for photograph. You can be as much creative as you want. Let’s get some amazing photos!

3. HINTA HINYAI

Located at the southern end of Lamai beach, Hinta Hinyai has been a symbol of Koh Samui for as long as I could remember. Hinta literally means Grandpa’s rock while Hinyai literally means Grandma’s rocks. You will be impressed with how these names came from. In the area, there is a small lagoon surrounded with boulders, which I think, quite photogenic. Hinta Hinyai is truly an instagrammable spot.

4. KOH NANG YUAN VIEWPOINT

Koh Nang Yuan is located in Surat Thani province, just over an hour from Koh Samui by speedboat. It consists of three little islands linked together by sand dunes. This is the uniqueness of the island in which you can hardly find anywhere else. So, the perfect spot for photograph is the viewpoint. It will take around 20 minutes to walk up to the viewpoint. Once you are there, you will be fascinated by the panoramic view of the three islands. This is a recommended spot to take photos. Please enjoy!

5. PHRA NANG CAVE

Phra Nang Cave is located at one of the most beautiful and most secluded beaches in Thailand, Phra Nang Cave Beach. The landscape is full of limestone mountains and cliffs. The sand is white and soft. The seawater is, of course, crystal clear. So, people always enjoy swimming, kayaking, or sunbathing around here.

Local fishermen come here to pay respect to ‘Phra Nang’, a sacred figure, by worshipping her with lingas, representing Shiva, according to Hindu belief.

I would recommend you to come here in early morning when there are very few people, so that you can take photos freely from as many angles as you want.

6. RAILAY BEACH

Railay is my favourite beach in Thailand. This world-class beach destination is cut off from the rest of Krabi mainland by a row of steep hills, so the area is only accessible by boat. I always love to stay at a beachfront resort on Railay Beach, so that I can enjoy the beach since early morning. Kayaking is a great activity here too.

During sunset, it is a special moment. You will get numerous stunning photographs of the sunset vanilla sky. Very impressive.

7. PILEH LAGOON

Pileh Lagoon is a must-visit place in Krabi. It is a part of Phi Phi Leh, not far from Maya Bay. Known as ‘Ao Pileh’ in Thai, Pileh Lagoon is a great spot for snorkeling. It can be reached by many types of boats, but I would recommend you to rent a local wooden boat called ‘Ruer Hua Thong’ as you will not only support local community there, but also have a chance to capture wonderful photos of yourself and this unique type of boat!

Thailand is picturesque. Hope you have some ideas for best photo spots in Samui and Krabi. Stay tuned for the next episode. Please subscribe!
