I still have 20 plus years to reach the retirement age but I’m already seriously planning to retire in Japan. Think about cost of living and services, my top choice would be small to medium size cities in Japan. So far my top choice is Oita, maybe in cities like Beppu since I like the city with a bit of Showa-style with Onsen and great seafood. Plus there is a good size international community.
