【宮城／観光名所】円通院／絵画のように美しい境内庭園を持つ寺院 – Entsuin Temple in MIYAGI, JAPAN

円通院は、宮城県宮城郡松島町にある臨済宗妙心寺派の寺院。
⽇本三景松島に所在し、国宝瑞巌寺に隣接しています。
円通院は、正保4年（1647年）に19歳で早世した伊達政宗の孫の伊達光宗の霊廟として、瑞巌寺第100世洞⽔和尚により開⼭されました。
境内の庭は、雲外天地の庭、遠州の庭、⻄洋の庭、三慧殿禅林瞑想の庭で構成。
四季折々の美しく趣ある姿で訪れる人を癒してくれます。
また、伊達家家臣の支倉常長がヨーロッパより持ち帰ったバラをテーマにした「⽩華峰⻄洋の庭」と名付けられた禅寺としては珍しいバラ園があります。
ピーク時には100種以上の色とりどりのバラを鑑賞できるバラ寺としても知られています。
様々な表情を持つ庭園が円通院最大の魅力。
秋には紅葉ライトアップがされた幻想的な世界を求めて多くの人が訪れています。

Entsuin temple is a temple of the Myoshinji school of the Rinzai sect, located in Matsushima-cho, Miyagi-gun, Miyagi Prefecture.
It is located in Matsushima, one of the three most scenic spots in Japan, and is adjacent to the national treasure Zuiganji Temple.
Entsuin temple was founded in 1647 by the 100th monk Dosui of Zuiganji as the mausoleum of Date Mitsumune, grandson of Date Masamune, who died prematurely at the age of 19.
The garden on the temple grounds consists of the Ungai Tenchi Garden, Enshu Garden, Western Garden and Sankeiden Zen Forest Meditation Garden.
The garden is beautiful and elegant from season to season, and is sure to soothe visitors.
In addition, there is a rose garden, which is rare for a Zen temple, named “Hakkahou Western Garden” based on the theme of roses brought back from Europe by THasekura Tsunenaga, a vassal of the Date clan.
It is also known as a rose temple where visitors can view more than 100 varieties of roses in a variety of colors during peak season.
The garden with its various expressions is the main attraction of Entsuin temple.
In the fall, many visitors come to see the fantastic world of illuminated autumn leaves.
