  1. Thank you for visiting Davao. It's safe and so much things to do. The reason why u can't bring back pack for safety reason had bad experience in the past.its better to bring a sling bag.

  2. Alex, some if not most of the people Mindanao still use face mask because the of motor vehicle exhaust smoke, smokers, dust, and even bad smell like farts or maybe a new variant of Covid😂

  3. Yeah sorry about that Alex. The rules here in the Philippines don't make sense to me either it's frustrating and it doesn't make any sense to me why they just checked you're bag and now they won't let you in? But yeah we all have to abide by the rules here regardless of how ridiculous they may seem unless you're working for some part of the government where you can overrule others. I once was told to leave behind a surge protector i had on my carryon when I was going through the Manila airport security and I had no idea why I couldn't even ask why because me and my cousin were moving really fast so I had no choice but to leave it behind. Next time I'll just out in it in my carry on maybe it'll go through. I have a short story to tell you Alex there is this guy named Justin Spencer who does youtube videos in Manila about apartments condos and financial planning here in the Philippines he has a video explaining his huge argument with security at the Manila airport because he couldn't transport one of his laptop's in a military grade case for it even though it was very secure and safe. I think Justin was able to finally bring it back with him to America but it was an ugly situation he had to go through with security and the airport. He was just really frustrated I told Justin keep you're cool man I know some rules here in the Philippines don't make any sense at all and probably frustrate locals to Don't get in trouble here in the Philippines over anything you're not from this country just remember that. The people in Mindanao seem very happy and delightful 👍👍Thanks for showing us around I'd like to go to Mindanao one of these days

  4. Okay wait Alex I just paused your video here by the security part. Why did the guy check your bag and you had nothing bad inside but the security lady said you can't take it with. Why is that?? I'm confused he basically just searched your bag for nothing

  5. Been watching vlogs interviews in cebu😂 welcome to my city! Davao city 🎉 well as background of the strictness of the roxas nightmarket. There is a history of bombing that claim of more than 50 lives and injuring hundreds. The city is now very cautious about anything! Just follow the rules even if it's very ridiculous. That's just how it is here. Enjoy your stay!

  6. PILIPINOS ARE FRIENDLY AND INTELLEGENT, THEY ARE EDUCATED PEOPLE THEY ARE INTERESTED WITH FOREIGNERS. SOME OTHER LAND CAN BE DANGEROUS THAN PHILIPPINES BUT PHILIPPINES ARE COMPLETE FACILITIES OF LEARNING. I AM PILIPINO
I WENT TO OTHER PLACES OF THE WORLD MANY SNATCHER AND DISHONEST THAN
PILIPINOS. ONLY THINGS PILIPINOS ARE VERY SUSPICIOUS TO FOREIGNERS WHERE THEY GO, BECAUSE THEY DON'T WANT TO BETRAY FOREIGNERS WHERE DANGEROUS PLACES
CAN GO; BE CAREFUL WITH DRUGS BECAUSE ,CAN CONFISCATE THEM BECAUSE OF BRINGNG
BY FOREIGNERS. ANY DRUGS THAT CAN BE MORE EARNING BY OTHERS

  7. Davao not safe? 😂😂 it's safer than Manila or Cebu! Law and order and even traffic rules are observed there.

  8. Davao is home to the ex president of the Philippines, Rodrigo Roa Duterte. He's known to hold private armies and apply the "Shoot First, Ask Questions Later" approach to crime, before, during, and after his presidency. (It's like his men control the city almost Mafia-style.) I won't delve too deep into his ways of "fighting crime," but Davao is supposed to be the "safest city" in the Philippines because, actually, everyone there is quite scared of him and his Yes Men. … Oh, well; there WAS a certain bombing once just pre-pandemic years ago in Davao City. So, I guess one could understand as to why the heightened security sticks there. … oh well; enjoy Davao and its durians.

  9. It was great to bump into you while you were here. I'm still loving Davao City after living in Cebu City for the last four years. Cebu is also a great place, but I'm enjoying Davao City more to be honest. I was just at that Roxas market a few days ago too. There's always rules and policies that don't make sense to me too, though I wonder if they don't want people bringing bags so its more difficult to steal things and put it in a bag, but who knows. I get its annoying.

  10. They allowed me in with a sling bag at Roxas night market. I guess yours was considered a back pack.

  11. Bro rules are rules , even if they make no sense to you or do not agree to it. If you done your homework about Mindanao and it's history with terrorism, you'd be more understanding of why they are so strict. Even after they still gave you an option to carry the backpack in the front? You cry about it? 😂

  12. HI ALEX have you checked Claveria? The street where the Avida Towers is located before you get to Roxas street. A place in Davao without exposed power lines and posts it’s so clean to look. And also check the newly opened Davao Coastal Road

  13. SORRY for the tight security in Roxas Night Market. That place was bombed a few years ago and a lot of people died. Bags are not allowed inside. They even tell us to remove our jacket while inside

  14. I suggest you go to Eden Park, The Eagle Sanctuary, Crocodile farm and don’t forget to go to Samal Island. Theirs is a famous Canadian in Davao, his channel is Becoming Filipino. He is now a Filipino Citizen.

Yes sometimes tourist don’t like to go to Davao City because they are very serious in their safety. That’s one reason why it’s a very safe to go there.

  15. People were killed by a bomb a few years ago at the night market. Try and see it from their perspective even if it doesn’t make sense. (Thank you for a great video:)

  16. You're in a city that has suffered from a major terrorist attack . You need to get over yourself.

  17. 06:45 I was shocked to see your reaction. Please don't be the ugly Canadian.
This indicates that they have had crime. Unfortunately, we are getting this in the US because of all of these shootings. (Thoughts and prayers, blah blah blah.)
You are seeing separate male and female entrances because of Muslim culture. With a history of violence and kidnappings, the US state department still says that it will not rescue Americans from Mindanao.

  18. I'm planning my trip to the phillipines in jan/feb and Davao and some other places on Mindanao are included. So I just subscribed and am curious what you will run into on this big island 👍

  19. hahaha hells thats where my girlfriend is from glad to see ya visit there !!!!

  20. Davao might be a big city but it is so spread out it doesn't feel like one. That's the reason you see few foreigners as we aren't very concentrated. BTW, Davao is the second safest city in S.E. Asia after Singapore. I love living here and the city and the people.

  21. What will probably happen soon is that when people are going into that nighttime market there is only a designation for male and female entrances, and with the gender references that are now forming, confusion will be paramount. What entrance does a non-binary person go into? This crazy world we are living in now is forcing us all to change the rules we once took for granted for decades.

  22. It doesn’t matter if it makes sense. Out of respect for whatever country you are in, obey the laws. Acceptance is the answer🙏🏼

  23. It's a philosophy subject not a degree. Geez. Why do you western people always feel the need to be correct. You can but think hard first. Such a KJ.

  24. We are behind the news? The fuck! If you think masks are exclusicely for covid you are ignorant. Lol

  25. As a fellow Canadian my thought is you protest too much. Their night market was bombed a few years ago. After that you can expect over reactions with the rules. Plead your case and move on. No need to point out how ridiculous the rule was.

  26. With regards to backpack in the nightmarket, it really started back during the bombing in 2016 where it was reported that an IED inside a backpack was placed besides an LPG which claimed more than a dozen lives. I understand why they're just very strict when it comes to backpacks in the nightmarket. It's either they stick with the rules or they'll be blamed if something happens.

  27. I'm 6'5" and white and have been to Mindanao a few times and Davao is not dangers at all. It's not dangerous until you go way down to the Muslim areas in the south. Also I know your Canadian but you have a Pakistan heritage so with your darker skin you should be safe. I went to the Sultan Kuderat in the south with my filipina girlfriend and I did get a few strange looks.

  28. maybe in the future, could you do a vlog on say your favourite foods or places to eat in cebu, maybe foods on a budget, as i plan to leave pattaya next year and move to cebu

  29. question: Do you book hotels before arriving to your destinations, or do you just find a hotel on the way?

  30. one thing you know if you're in davao city. it has strict rules here. don't get too cocky on your arguements. every place here has security and some prohibited items you can't bring in a certain places for security reasons. abide by it. or just don't go those places. don't make this cebu or other tourists spot you usually go. no special places here in davao for tourism. but this place is for residing peacefully and with strict rules you must follow. remember that.
