Thank you very much everyone for all the love you send my way. I assure you, the feeling is mutual.

I am an American Expat in Ho Chi Minh City, (Saigon) Vietnam. (I dislike the word Expatriate). I have lived in Vietnam for 3 years, I am almost considered an expert at living abroad. As I live, work and travel in Vietnam and south east Asia, I want to take you around with me to show you what I saw in Vietnam, in South East Asia and talk with you about my experiences living in Saigon HCMC and take you with me as I travel vlog around Vietnam and South East Asia in 2022. I am not a backpacker but I started by wanting to backpack through South East Asia. I was going to just visit of vacation, but I was going to take part in tourism activities. I was going to be a globetrotting tourist but I never really planed to document mytravels. Was going to be a long holiday trip, maybe I would become a digital nomad. But I knew Vietnam would be my home when I got here, now Saigon is my home, where I work and live, but I still plan to motor bike across Asia, motovlog Vietnam, moto vlog South East Asia, dare I motorbike into China? And also fly around South East Asia, to tour and travel, But for now, this is my Vietnam life, my HCMC Saigon life, my expat life. I always thought living abroad would be scary, but it’s interesting and fulfilling. The food is amazing, the culture is fascinating and the people are friendly and welcoming. If you ever wanted to take the leap to travel and live abroad, Tourism in Vietnam is buzzing right now since Vietnam reopens. I am often asked: are Vietnam borders open? Yes indeed, tourism reopened in 2022. Want to know what I saw in Vietnam and my life in HCMC Saigon. What I think about Vietnam and traveling and living abroad? What to do in Vietnam? How do live in Asia? What to do in Saigon? How to work, or work as a teacher in Asia? How to get a visa or what a digital nomads life could be like in Asia or Vietnam? What is it like to be an Expat in Vietnam and South East Asia? I am an expat, a Saigon Vlogger, a HCMC vlogger, a moto vlogger, a lifestyle vlogger, a digital nomad resource, a Saigon nightlife vlogger, an immigrant, a migrant worker. I make vlogma videos, (wth is vlogma) I want a daily vlog, but ain’t got the time. But I can do a video diary, which makes me an online creator. Why anyone would watch vloggers as bad as me, I don’t know. Sometimes I make food vlogs, foodporn? Did you know yum in Vietnams mean “horn..”, well, neverminded. I hope you will feel encouraged by my channel. I will show you a lot of things like how to live abroad, how to be a digital nomad, how to work in Asia, how to experience Vietnam, how to make friends and build a life in Asia, how to enjoy the culture and food. How to be a gamer in Asia. How to live a life in Asia, like a normal person. How to be a happy person. I am not a Vietnam digital nomad in HCMC. But I know a few. Did you actually read all that? Tell me in the comments that you did and I will give you shoutout in my next video. Some keywords I like to include are: economic hardship saigon expat

  1. I remember how at the beginning of the pandemic some of the locals would mock foreigners for being bad with money…

  2. Another awesome video Adam. It's nice to see what all has changed in the ol' stomping grounds of D1. I miss VN dearly and hope to return one day. Until then, I will have to live vicariously through your channel.
I had no idea you and Andrew were friends. I met him and Joe and a few others, the last few months I was in SGN, at Saigon Ngon also haha. Once Huong Vy closed, it was Saigon Ngon and Mr. Phuoc's shop (the joint barrestaurant and clothing shop)

I look forward to and hope you and Andrew are able to do more videos together. Keep up the good work !

  3. Hello, which district do you suggest tourist should stay in? Planning to go next month for a few weeks. Thanks

  4. I booked tickets and hope to be there next Friday, March 25th. My hostel is in District 1! Looks good..

  5. Wow… you went through the razor wires ? my girlfriend did the same thing she's really brave she told me the key is to wear a hoodie because if you wear a t-shirt chances are you can get cut or caught

  6. 05:39 I stayed at there at their hotel "AHA" in December 2019😃🙌
Wonderful to see that street again❤🇻🇳 Thank you for sharing✨️🙏🤩

  7. Hey guys. I’m going in mid May, which club would you suggest that’s popping and still open. House/techno music. Thanks

  8. The "Economic Devastation" of your headline is somewhat melodramatic. Seems that your travels are limited to tourist areas and Raft House (Nha Be).

Most of your posts seem to centre around tourist areas, omitting millions of people who live in Metro SaiGon.

Vietnamese businessmen are somewhat pragmatic and will quickly sell a business, or close it. Why page rent or salaries when unnecessary?

My business in ChoLon continued uninterrupted as did both my suppliers and customers. Shops can be open but appear to be closed. Sure there was hardship, and the body count in the Food Kitchen I volunteer at went way up.

Just because your favourite bar or hot dog joint is closed, doesn't mean it won't rise from the dead.

The number of females volunteering "massage services" has ramped up – just to generate income.

Near my condo in Q7, roadside food stands opened up selling vegetables, baked goods, rice, etc. Co-Op Mart, and others, delivered by xe om. Hot meals are at the end of a telephone call. It's just a matter of who you know.

  9. @18:15 … that Gold/Champaign colored car on the left is a $250,000 (USD) Bentley so at least someone is making stupid money over there 🙂

  10. I spent a lot of time in the Saigon nightlife circuit in 17-20. during that time, it changed so much, even before covid. Saigon was constantly on the move, economic growth was insane. D3 local nightlife was > D2 expat trap, hopefully it has come back post covid, plan to visit in summer.

  11. It is amazing how much money pour into a store or restaurant which obviously won't make it.

Another thing you will see are enterprises of the same type lining the same same street – great for comparison shopping and low prices.

Strangely this is common common in many developing countries.

A few years ago l was building a communications network in New Delhi and all the pipe vendors were on the same street.

Many Foreigners never venture in to ChoLon where the largest covered market is, way, way better than Ben Thanh. My office and plant are located there so I eat Chinese cuisine daily.

I have a 360 camera and on Sundays l drive ChoLon streets scanning stores.

  12. When you see closed enterprises, large and small closed you have to remember VN doesn't have unemployment insurance or government health plans. Pensions kick in at age 55.

In these hard times families struggle for food and money for children's education fees.

Often residential landlords will reduce rents.

Sadly housewives turn out at month ends to sell themselves for rent money – which happens in North America, too.

One amusing thing you will see is young guys, riding impressive, loud, 'hogs' 'filling up' with 20 or 50,000 Ðong's eotth of gas.
