End of Summer Feels – Sunflowers in Japan

The sunflower fields near Sendai, Japan are in bloom now that it’s the end of summer! We visited Sunflower Hill (Himawari no oka, ひまわりの丘) in Sanbongi, Osaki-shi, Miyagi, Japan, just north of Sendai.

We had to take the bullet train (shinkansen), a taxi and a bus to get there, but it was worth the trip. For instructions, you can visit sanbongi.jp.

Sendai is the largest city in the beautiful Tohoku region of Northeastern Japan. Bordered on the East by the Pacific Ocean and the West by the Ou mountains, Sendai is full of nature and is even known as the “City of Trees.” Despite this, we sometimes want to get out of the city and into the country, especially when the seasons change.
