ベッチャー祭とは？
1807年(文化4年)に尾道で流行した疫病を、尾道町の時の奉行、南部藤左衛門が各神社に命じて平癒祈願をし、病魔退散のお祓いを3日2夜にわたり行われた祈祷に由来するお祭りで、尾道市民俗文化財に指定されている奇祭。
今年で216年の歴史がある。
毎年11月1日・2日・3日に行われ、獅子が神輿とともに市の中心街を練り歩く。
3日にはベタ・ソバ・ショーキーの三つの鬼の面を付けた氏子によって、ベタ・ソバは「祝棒」で突かれると子宝に恵まれる。
ショーキーは「ささら」で叩かれると頭が良くなる。
そして1年間の無病息災が約束される、と伝えられている。
しかし、市内の小さな子供にとっては追いまわされる恐怖の1日となる。

毎年この日は子供から大人まで皆が街へ繰り出し、太鼓のお囃子に合わせて「ベタ」「ソバ」「ショーキー」という掛け声で三面をはやしている光景がとても魅力的で、近くに寄ると、叩かれる、突かれる、噛まれる、といった人々でもみくちゃになる。

広島県尾道市出身でHoofers Companyを主宰。
王冠タップの考案者。
演劇集団「円」養成所卒し、N.Y.に渡り、アポロシアター「アマチュアナイト」において日本人タップ・ダンサーとして初めてベスト4に入賞。
またN.Y. JAZZ CLUBでSAVION GLOVER、JIMMY SLYDEなど、黒人タップダンサーと共演。
その後、劇団四季に入団し「クレイジー・フォー・ユー」等に出演し、タップの振付け・指導も行う。
現在は後進の指導にあたるかたわら、プレイヤー、振付家として数々のアーティストと共演し、タップを楽器として、津軽三味線、ヴァイオリンなどユニットを結成しLIVE活動を行っている。

その後、9歳から14歳の現在まで毎年、主にブロードウェイミュージカルやショーの公演に出演。
10歳の時、全国ユースダンスコンテスト(JYDF)Junior/グループの部で全国大会優勝。
また、同時期、全国英語歌唱コンクール(EVE)グループの部Junior部門にて2年連続最優秀賞を獲得。
その後、11歳で東京国際声楽コンクールミュージカル部門(ソロ/年齢制限なし)に挑戦し、第3位を受賞。
