Yuri recently moved from Japan to Singapore with her husband and baby. She is sharing her experience living here as a mother. What are some of the pros and cons compared to her home country, Japan?

Today’s restaurant: Omoté (at Thomson Plaza)
Official Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/omotesingapore/
Make a reservation: https://www.omote.com.sg/
Order online for delivery: https://omote.oddle.me/en_SG/

It was my first time visiting Omoté, and I was genuinely surprised by its quality and uniqueness. They serve contemporary Japanese – a delicious fusion of Asian and Japanese cuisine. I love the octopus kara-age, the humungous chirashi, crispy chili crab, and the pork belly. Really delicious.
As Omoté is popular, I strongly recommend you to make a reservation from the link above so you are assured a table.

Big thanks to Yuri for appearing on my channel! Check out her blog (https://ameblo.jp/fruitcake923/) and Instagram https://www.instagram.com/y.anes923/

Thank you Omoté for sponsoring this video and providing delicious food for us. I will definitely come back with my family.

  1. Can I request Ghib san’s set when I next go to Omote? Every dish look so good!

  2. I must go Thonson Plaza one day to try this Janpese restaurant, all the food look so unique.

  3. Maybe Ghib can tell Ms Yuri that there are the kind of umbrellas that are attached to strollers for sale online. She can try search for it on online shopping platforms, so as to use it in SG, the UV rays can be very damaging to the skin in SG.

  4. IMHO, you should interview the chef who has been living in Singapore for 40 years, he is sure to have lots of stories and encounters to share.

  5. Glad to know Yuri san and the food look so yummy and glad to understand how she feel about living in Singapore

  6. Japanese guy alway don’t show polite to lady. If share foods, please let the lady take her portions first to her dish before you eat。 By the way, he couldn’t handle the chopstick well and didn’t show the right way to eat sushi

  7. ghib tell yuri that when we singaporeans meet a foreigner we know how to code switch and speak proper english so people like her can understand. tell her to join community groups and talk to us. we are friendly and welcoming.

  8. Haven’t been to Thomson Plaza for more than 20 yrs?….must come to this place when I am back in SG the next time

  9. Seeing how far the business has grown from under the sushiro brand to now under omote, it brings tears to my eyes ROFL.

Nagae-san even offers those intimate chef services in a private room at the omote establishment. But that was back before COVID as far as I know he has not opened that part since

  10. I love Japanese food! Wish there are more Japanese restaurants like Omote' here in Florida.

  11. My mum married my Singaporean Chinese father and has been staying in SG for 45 years! She's always sharing plenty of culture shock stories when she first came in the early 70s.:) Now she's like 90% more localised haha..

  12. I think it'll be better if you give the guests a little more time to eat before following up with questions, and allow them to finish talking before talking. It just seems that the interviewees on this video and the other videos can be a little more comfortable if more attention is given to their conditions. Or maybe I'm just overthinking things which in that case, this would be another comment in passing with no significance

  13. Went yesterday and found the food not as great as what people are raving about. The Chili crab was quite a disappointment, the fried oyster was not fresh and the slice beef don so so only. Not sure if they are popular for their chirashi and sushi cause saw quite alot of people ordering that.

  14. I tried the truffle tako, instead of truffles they put black wood ear. What a disappointment.

  16. I feel like you should turn around & go back to that chef. As a Japanese who has been in SG for 40 years, the experiences & wisdom from him would be immeasurable, especially for someone like you, who might consider SG for the long-term

  17. I live more than 60 yrs of my life without UV and I'm still healthy today. But I still hate sunny day.

  18. Does Japanese family hire maids or does the women takes care of the kids and house since they don't work

  19. Hi, it's another entertaining video. Yuri san could actually utter some authentic Singlish, she certainly could do well in Singapore. As for yourself, Ghib Ojisan, you looked nice in spectable 👍👍👍

  20. シンガポールに来て1ヶ月が経ちました。動画に出ていらっしゃるゆりさんと同じ主人の海外赴任の帯同ですが、日本食が恋しかったので、お店が知れて嬉しいです💖

  21. Yeah Yun's very sophisticated but fun really no airs abt her,btw even if she's just a hse-wife(doesn't matter)

  22. Yr usage of 'shiok' for food is not correct. In hokkien, shld say 'ho chiak' (meaning delicious)
"Shiok' is more suitable for like an experience after you like went thru a roller coaster or a massage. U can even use 'song' which has similar in usage.Just sharing.
