In this video we bring you the full 787 Dreamliner cockpit experience as Gabe Leigh flies with Etihad Airways in the jumpseat from Abu Dhabi to Osaka Kansai International. Over the course of 50 minutes you’ll see just about everything that goes into completing a flight on the 787-9, from pre-flight discussion to taxi and takeoff, navigating busy airspace leaving the Gulf, looking at the flight plan and weather enroute, changing from feet to meters over China, and finally descending into busy Japanese airspace and the approach into Kansai International looping in over Osaka Bay.
It’s Etihad’s 20th anniversary this month – and that coincides with a period of expansion and development at the airline. New routes are being added, the beautiful new terminal has just opened and more. It was really nice to get an insight into their operations, and meet some of the people that make up their team, at this exciting time. And of course, especially to get to spend the flight, on one of those brand new routes, in the flight deck. What an incredible experience this was, with an excellent flight crew, and we can’t thank Etihad Airways enough for helping to put it together.

I love these videos; they're getting better too. I've had FR24 gold for about 3 years now, and if any of my money is helping to produce these video that aren't hidden behind a paywall, I will happily continue to pay, this just seemed better than some of the flight videos that are both free and hidden behind a paywall.
What an amazing flight and the captain was fantastic! Just love how he was explaining everything that was going on.
Magnificent video!!🙂
Come To India Fly In Air India 🇮🇳 New AirCraft A350 AirCraft
Excellent video. Love the 787, the flightdeck is so quiet. The dimmed windows, even when fully dimmed, still let you see out and enjoy the view, without blinding you or others.
On the subject of China and their ATC:
Talking in local language on ATC is, in my opinion, dangerous. It has killed before and will kill again.
Pilots need to hear what is going on around them, so they can potentially hear someone being cleared to be in the same place as they are and alert ATC or take avoiding action.
It's not so much of a problem when in the air, but has proven deadly when on the ground. Situational awareness is very important and if you don't understand most of the coms on frequency, you lose that awareness.
As such, I would hope eventually China learns that all ATC coms should be in English, regardless of airline nationality, as that is the internationally agreed common ATC language.
so proud of my colleagues!
What an amazing video!! It really feels like I‘m flying with you to Japan in the cockpit.
KIX the king of airports, who doesn’t love Osaka and the approach over Awaji, Kobe and the Osaka bay into Izumisano !
honestly, I would not move my a** out of the cockpit.
very-nice👍video✨
That is one really good captain!✈✈
Would love to see a video from the flight deck of an emirates a380 one day!
Many Many thanks for doing this!!
That wing view camera quality is insane! Amazing video!
Ex ryanair captain..irish man 👍🏻🇮🇪
Great video and great to see an Irishman at the helm 👍
I love that the captain went out of his way to explain what’s going on shows you that he really cares and as a airplane mechanic and hopefully a future pilot I really like this video
Thats an incredible video man!
Captain Horan stayed at the hotel that I work at a month or so ago and he is genuinely one of the nicest and funiest people I met at the hotel.
I must say, this was surely one of the best videos from FR24 and Gabe!
Those HF frequencies are crazy strong. I used one flying from Santa Maria to Shanwick airspace last week (Western point of Europe) and we were picking up the radio chat of Mumbai really clearly. TJ is exactly like every other Irish captain out there! I'd say hes a sound lad to fly with
Gabe you have the best job in the world pal. 😀
We need more videos like this please
The B787 is absolutely old school. A yoke with a button for trimming like in a Cessna 150. The headup display was already available in the MD-80 over 40 years ago. Airbus is more modern in all respects.
Emil. I know. It's hard to stand outside the staples of group think.
Везет людям!
How to get into the cockpit ? 🥹
야 내 목소리다 ㅎㅎㅎㅎ 고맙심니데이

Captain really wants that 777x😂😂
WOW! This was a great video. 👍🏾
I love it
This was a fun watch! Loved to see the crew work, especially the captain. Thanks for sharing.

Another great video by Gabe and what a lovely crew taking time to give us all that amazing information throughout the flight.
