Welcome to a special trip report. Back on April 4th, I flew from Islip to Sacramento via Ft. Lauderdale, Key West, & Atlanta.
I’ve always heard of Silver Airways, but I’ve never had the opportunity to fly them. But after reading an article about how a guy was kicked off a flight for taking a picture, I was encouraged to try trip report them and see what happens. Well, the flight attendant was extremely nice, and I had a long conversation with her about how cool the views are on their flights to the Bahamas. The seat was honestly very nice for how small the aircraft is. The overhead bins were completely empty, which is something I’ve never seen. I was disappointed with the small service, but it was a quick flight so I can’t blame them. Also, I didn’t know that the ocean was right next to the airport exit, so I chilled there during my layover.
Hope you enjoy!

Of course it small
Excellent video! VERY busy time at KFLL!
Let's take a look at that fuel consumption claim. Using round numbers for easy math, let's say it takes a jet 1000 gallons to move 70 seats 500 miles. The 340 moves 34 seats only 250 miles in one hour at 60% less fuel, or 400 gallons. To move 34 seats 500 miles takes 800 gallons or 23.53 gallons per seat. The jet uses 14.29 gallons per seat. The jet wins!
very nice video.
What music was that ?
Boeing 737 banzai at the begins, what app are you using to get all the aircraft info?
19:29 Why is there a Cubana plane??
Sempre bom esses vídeos
The 60% less fuel statement is an obvious one but it is specifically to state that the Saab is more economical and has less of an environmental footprint vs a 70 seater jet that may be used on the same routes.
RIP Saab and this native Swede thanks you. I drove a Saab 93 for many years and, let me tell you, that car had some SERIOUS HORSE POWER!! It was a turbo and, yes, I got a speeding ticket.
I remember flying this aircraft from Boston, MA the Burlington, VT in the early 1990s and liking it.
I’ve never heard of silver airways before bc I always take alligent from FWA – PGD
Does that plane have flaps?
Great video young sir, what's the speed of the Saab? And what the highest feet for the Saab?
I’ve seen nothing but awful reviews but do u recommend? Asking cause I found some super cheap tickets but my friend feels like it’s unsafe
Excellent video. What is the app you're using on your phone to track flights?
You do a trip report on their ATR fleet aircraft network.
When I lived in Ithaca NY from 1991 thru 2002, I flew out of Ithaca Tompkins regional airport with US Air, which later became US Airways, on various regional turboprop airliners. I flew on the turboprops to New York LaGurardia, Philly, and Pitsburgh, where I would get a connecting mainline jet flight to my my final destination, my hometown of Charlotte NC for Christmas etc. The turboprop airliners included the Beechcraft 1900 C and D models, Jetstream 31, Shorts 360, and my favorite of those, the DeHaviland Dash-8 100 series. The Dash 8 cabin was was most like that of a mainline jet, but yet the Dash-8 was still a turboprop. Unlike most of the public, I personally like turboprop airliners better than conventional fan jet aircraft. For one thing, the turboprop engines burn less jet fuel than a conventional fan jet, because 90 percent of the thrust comes from the props, while the jet exhaust adds a 10 percent extra thrust. A conventional fan jet can fly a bit faster and at up to 40,000 feet, but relies more on the exhaust for propulsion, which eats up fuel. The fan in the front of the conventional jet engine adds only maybe 20 percent of additional thrust.
Asides from the fuel economy, I personally enjoy seeing the props spin, and I also enjoy the sound that the props make. In full idle and taxiing, they make your basic "Box Fan" sound. In takeoff and inflight, they make a low pitched drone like the wings of a bumblebee. Takeoffs are more exhilarating in turboprops, when the props are revved up to 1,500 RPM as they begin the takeoff roll. Once airborne, the landing gear is retracted into the nausels, and the props are spooled down to about 1,200 RPM. During the cruise portion of the flight, the props are probably rotated at 1,000 RPM.
Is this an EAS flight??
Butter landing

I remember my first Saab 340 flight on American Eagle back in 2001 from JFK-BDL.
10:27 Azul te Amor Brasil
Flown into that airport twice in a small private plane and it was so pretty!! Loved the flying over the islands and the views, wow!
Dorkmann shouldn’t you still be playing with toy airplanes?
I wonder is Silver will survive.
I've watched so many of these trip report videos, and this is the first time so far that the seat pocket was small. 🙂
12:30. I flew on Azul airlines before
24:10 U said the F word
OMG they are only on the reverse thrust at taxi
Honestly, looks to be about the size of some of the Netjets you’ve been on. Lol.
I can relate to when you said the f word bc I live in south Florida and it gets hot as balls haha
less than 200 nm flight turb0 g0nna kill jet 0n fuel every time, shit that distance y0u might as well drive
Saab sounds like sob
I wish I could fly in props more often. When I fly, it’s almost always a jet.
I noticed he tookoff with NO flaps.
Not a fan of this one! That engine cover looks like it hasn't had a re-spray in 20 years, plane looks old overall, and it's sounds almost unbearably loud.
Turboprop airplane:saab 340
I haven’t been on the 340b since 2015 and it kinda looks like a bus at the back
Saab 340B + beautiful
Ft. Lauderdale (FLL) disgusting
Key West (EYW) is beautiful.
Rare turboprop in Indonesia airspace…Great airline
tonight's Q re-view is one of my favs. the jet blue livery at 12:20 is nice. hanging out on the bench during a layover is sweet, those shoes are dope (i need a pair) but the best part is qman/s weather report after getting off the plane lol. thanks for sharing qman!!!
GE CT7-9B power 😍 17:15 the 70-seat jet they're talking about is a CRJ-700 or E170. According to Wikipedia, the Saab 340 is indeed more fuel efficient than either the CRJ-700 or E170, but not dramatically. It turns out that, on flights ranging from about 575 to 787 miles, the Saab 340 is only about 4 miles per gallon better. That being said, the CT7 and the CF34 that powers the 70-seat jet mentioned, are both manufactured in Lynn, MA by GE Aerospace, so I like both the CT7 and the CF34 equally 🥰 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuel_economy_in_aircraft#Regional_flights
Thanks!
