There are two main Yatai (open air food stall) areas in Fukuoka, Japan – which one is better?
I hope this video provides a better understanding of the above question 😉

Just what I needed on Christmas Eve while working…Thank you Sarah!
The one I went to in Nakasu didn't seem that bad for hurrying me although the people next to me did get moved on in the end (in fairness they stayed for ages chatting to me about Iron Maiden after finishing theirs) It was a really cool atmosphere, and the food was pretty decent.
Sigh… I've been to Fukuoka a few times, and will visit again very soon. Not once have I eaten or drank at a yatai. They do look enjoyable, though, if you can read the menus and can chat with the yatai stallkeepers and fellow customers. I'll probably chicken out again and end up dining at izakaya joints and in the shopping centers above Hakata station
Merry Christmas Sarah!!🎄I hope you have an enjoyable holiday season with friends, family, and good food! It's been a great year for your channel, and I am looking forward to what next year brings too! 🎊
Thanks you for your sharing Sarah. I enjoyed it your video. Nice place and beautiful eventhore I'm not coming yet at there.
Merry Christmas from Canada, Sarah! 🎄If you need more snow, we have plenty to spare today! Enjoyed all your travel vlogs this year. All the best in the new year. 🙂
Happy Christmas thanks for the surprise video
LOL, this was funny. That random dude was amusing. Maybe he was trying to flirt with you, but was nervous at the same time. 🙂
メリークリスマス, Sarah!!!!!!! 😀
Thank you for sharing and showing such cool yatai places in Fukuoka. You must felt uncomfortable at the first yatai place as the owner pressured you leave when finishing eating. But foods look great and can feel good vibe at both places you’ve been to.
Really enjoying your videos and thank you again for this episode of Fukuoka.
Wishing you and everyone Merry Christmas, Sarah!
Sarah, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!! Glad you made a video. We have been waiting patiently for new content ❤❤❤
Maybe they were thinking that you were going to leave, Who knows, if your just going to leave your dishes there right after you leave. Bob & Mike
great video.
Sarah
Thanks for posting. The second place was much more nicer and less pushy. Are you keeping in touch with your new friend? 👏👏
Always nice to see you again, Sarah (and at least hearing Tokyo Foodie Mama again as well as introducing Tokyo Foodie Papa, I believe). Your 20 000+ subscribers will hopefully and probably spend their money on something else than on being stressed, yelled at and humiliated by Princes Charming, Bob and Mike. Every entrepreneur is of course entitled to his/her own idea of how to run the business, but one basic and general rule is normally to aim at satisfied and returning customers. They seem to have missed that lesson. 😅
A happy new year in advance, and I hope to see you again sometime in 2023, whenever you hear Youtube calling on you again. 😉
I'll be in Fukuoka in 3rd week of January, where is the Tenjin Yatai located?
Sensei, Happier new year!!!🥳🥳
Nakasu stall motto "Eat it and Beat It"
Sorry about the less good experience in Nakasu. I have eaten there many, many times and never had this treatment, never any stress, only very friendly and funny staff. Normally one can take the time to enjoy one´s highball or beer and eat calmly. And a note to visitors, there are very clean public restrooms along the river, no worries. And a second note, Nakasu is not red light district despite what many people seem to think. It is perfectly safe. There are a lot of girl´s and boy´s bars, but these are totally different from many places in Europe etc. Tenjin yatais are good too! Cheers.
hello Sarah, thank you for your information about Yatai in Fukuoka. i want to ask, is there any menu in English or the owner can speak English?
thnak you
It's actually pretty common to be rushed as they have limited spaces and wanted to take in more customers. I agree that it's better to eat in a restaurant first then drop by here for quick meals (which can also be pretty pricey unfortunately). There are however good ones who are more focused on the customers
😊😊
Went there yesterday and now back to America, and my take is that you’re paying for the “street” experience from low-lifes making quick bucks. 😢
Ordering in a Yatai looks daunting. Any tips for non-japanese speaking tourists on how to have a good experience eating in a a yatai?
Still dont know where is Tenjin Food stall after watching your vlog 🙁
I'm in fukuoka right now and this video is accurate. Thank you for the warning! Our yatai experience was improved tenfold by sticking to stalls in North nakasu and Tenjin as opposed to the busy southern strip (near the bridge night market). Stalls at southern nakasu had four times the line and folks were hardly interacting with each other.
