Animate is Japan’s largest anime-related merchandise retail chain, with its main store located in Ikebukuro.The Ikebukuro store will reopen in the spring of 2023 as the world’s largest anime store.
Ikebukuro is popular among female anime fans. About 80% or more of Animate’s customers were women.
