Usa Jingu is a beautiful, serene shrine in Oita, Kyushu. No crowds, and nature all around you. This is the Japan you’ve imagined.
Usa Jingu goes back to the early 8th century, and is one of the most prestigious shrines in Japan. Several of its structures are designated national treasures, and some nationwide customs such as carrying mikoshi (portable shrines) and the Hōjō-e festival started at Usa Jingu (or Usa Hachiman-gū).
