The roughly 800 meter long shopping street in central Yakage owes much of its existence to its location on along the old Shogunate-controlled Sanyo Road, which led to Edo (the capital of Japan at that time).

As the presence of regional lords was required in Edo periodically, a system developed where towns on the route would provide accomodation for the travelling nobility. From this set of circumstances, a marvelous townscape developed.

The Inn operates from one of the Edo era townhouses along the central street and is comprised of the main building and the hot spring bath annex.

Yakage-ya Inn and Suites opened in 2015, and is located in central Yakage Town, which is known for its historical district and festivals celebrating traditional customs. Set in a 200-year-old building, this Japanese Inn is a stylish mix of traditional Japanese and
contemporary interior styles.

The Inn has 15 rooms, all of which are decorated in a mixed Japanese and Western style. From the lobby and bar counter in the main lobby, to the guest rooms in the main and annex buildings, the inn is designed to offer guests a relaxing and comfortable stay.

Enjoy authentic Japanese cuisine at Kachoufugetsu, which features the best seafood from the Seto Inland Sea as well as locally harvested produce. If you are in the mood for Western food, have a meal at the inn’s Italian restaurant,Taverna 44.

Regardless of whether you are actually a guest at Yakageya, you can stop by and enjoy a drink at the elegant Bar Ebisu.

The inn also has indoor and outdoor hot spring baths and a sauna made from locally-quarried Yakage stone. All rooms are non-smoking.

Take a stroll down Yakageya’s Daimyo Avenue shopping arcade, where you can find an excellent selection of gift items and souvenirs.
