If you’ve landed a long layover in Budapest, Hungary, start planning your itinerary. After all, there’s no need to waste the day in the airport terminal when you could be venturing around the nation’s capital. The clock is ticking until your next flight, but there’s lots you can do in just 24 hours in Budapest.

When you’re looking to experience Budapest in a day, start your adventures at the Royal Palace on Castle Hill. The compound was built in the 13th century, and it includes popular attractions such as the Hungarian National Gallery and the Budapest History Museum. Next, check out the massive Hungarian Parliament Building and gaze at the Holy Crown of Hungary, located in the central hall. If you still have time to spare during your layover, take a dip in the steamy water at the Szechenyi Medicinal Bath, stroll around the Liberty Statue on Gellert Hill, and make a stop at world-famous St. Stephen’s Basilica.

Even if you’re limited to one day in Budapest, you’ll have the opportunity to see some of the city’s most valued sites. Whether you venture to the historic spots or simply mosey across the Chain Bridge, you just may find yourself hoping for a flight cancellation.

  1. Amazing timelapses and hyperlapses, however the other shots look a bit on the amateur end, I've seen much better videos about Budapest, Expedia could have invested in a better video producer/editor IMO I don't mean to brag or anything but even my video from Budapest is better than this…
