I fly home on Singapore Airlines Airbus A350, non-stop, direct, from San Francisco to Singapore on Business Class. A very pleasant flight on SQ31. My flight departed SFO at 1130hrs.

Earlier that morning, I flew in from Las Vegas to SFO via Alaska Airlines, so I was up very early. My arrival into SFO was in good time. I could walk over from the terminal that Alaska landed to the International terminal via airside, without the need to clear security. My baggage was checked through.

I went straight to the United Polaris Lounge, which was available for use only if you are flying long-haul, transcontinental Star Alliance. No problems gaining admission for me. This lounge was once voted best business class lounge in the world – Sit Down Breakfast at United Polaris Lounge San Francisco 2023

I was at the gate fairly early, as I had received an email asking me to go to the gate to get my boarding pass verified as well as to ensure that my baggage was transferred properly.

Boarding time was about 11AM. The cabin crew boarded the plane about 1 hour before that.

Today, I had a Bassinet seat on Row 19. This row, comes with additional leg room. It made for an even more spacious and comfortable seat I show you the seat briefly, I could sit myself opposite the main seat and take a video. It was very cool.

As other passengers were boarding, I was offered a pre-take off drink. Champagne was offered, so I took that! Morning bubbly! It was good.

The pushback for take off was on time. We had to taxi for a while to the runway, before taking off. I saw that the plane just behind us queuing for takeoff was a Qantas jet. Good day mate!

Once in the air, cabin crew started to work. Earlier, they had taken orders for my take off drink and I decided to go for my favourite – the Singapore Sling! I was served some warm nuts to go along with the Singapore Sling. Lovely.

As the crew were busying themselves to get ready for the first meal service, which would be lunch, I decided to change my seat into bed mode! I have done this many times on my own, so no issue at all. The reason why I did it even before the first meal this time round was the fact (and realisation) that I much enjoyed the additional space conferred by the bed mode, because I could lean further back and snuggle up at my little cocoon corner, and have a wonderful meal at the same time! It was good fun.

[First Meal]
Starter was a grilled scallop plus salad. My main course was the braised beef, which was great! Tender and moist. For dessert, I had ice cream and fruits. All was good.

[Second Meal]
This was served about 5 hours after the first meal. I had a very good sleep in between the first and second meals!

Starter was some smoked duck salad.

Highlight of the meal was Baked Lobster! This is Book The Cook – you can book this up to 48 hours in advance, using the SQ app or website. So don’t expect to have Baked Lobster on this route unless you use Book the Cook service (which is part of your Business class ticket).

3 hours before landing, I ordered some snacks, including fish congee.

SQ San Francisco to Singapore Business Airbus A350. Enjoy the flight!
