In this non-stop video we will ride the bike through the notorious Osaka’s neighbourhoods – Shinsekai and Nishinari. Shinsekai is known for its historical and nostalgic atmosphere, reminiscent of Showa era. Whereas Nishinari, previously called Kamagasaki, is known as the poorest area in Japan, that also has a historic red light district – Tobita Shinchi.
We will start the ride at Shinsekai Market, known as Shinsekai ichiba, then we will continue riding along Tsutenkaku Hondori Shopping Street, passing by the base of the iconic Tsutenkaku Tower, continuing the ride through the iconic Shinsekai streets with it’s bright nostalgic signage, and then continuing the ride through Jan-Jan Yokocho – a network of narrow streets and alleys filled with small eateries, bars, and street food vendors. You can find traditional Osaka dishes here like kushikatsu – deep-fried skewers, and takoyaki – octopus balls.
As we reach Dobutsuen-mae station, we will cross the road to Dobutsuen-mae Ichibangai, and then ride along Nishinari streets, including Osaka’s oldest red light district – Tobita Shinchi.
