THIS TEMPLE HAS A CHILLING HISTORY 😳😱
I found this Place on my first trip to Uji in Kyoto and I was surprised by how much you’re able to walk in freely in this temple and look into all the rooms. Back then, I didn’t know about the Stained floorboards but after doing some research on this place I wanted to make sure to come back and look at it. Truly interesting but also chilling!
Samurai’s blood from over 400 years ago is found at this temple in Kyoto, Japan.
The ceilings of 5 temples in Kyoto are stained with Samurai blood, shed during one of the most brutal Samurai conflicts in Japan’s History.
The ceilings are constructed from the floorboards of Fushimi Momoyama Castle located in Kyoto, where an army of 40.000 was held off for 11 days, but as the enemy couldn’t be held off any longer, surrendering with honour, the remaining Samurai took their own lives, committing seppuku.
The blood stains were impossible to remove, leaving handprints and footprints to this day.
The floorboards were broken up and sent to various temples and castles in Japan.
Five Temples in Kyoto have blood-soaked floorboards incorporated into the ceiling.
