Toribeno in Kyoto, where the corpse was dumped in the field

Introducing Toribeno, where the corpse was dumped in the field & Rokudo tsuji, the entrance to the other world

During the Heian period, people didn’t have money to buy firewood to burn bodies, so they dumped bodies in fields on the outskirts of Kyoto. The place was called Toribeno.

At that time, wind funerals and bird funerals were held in that area.

Toribeno is southeast of Kyoto and north of Kiyomozudera temple.
