Pune is the second largest city in Maharashtra and also the ninth most populous city in the country. It has some amazing forts, Temples and parks. Pune is famous as a industrial city but has some hidden gems for tourists to explore!
i had done a day trip to pune from Mumbai and could cover limited places which include:
Aga Khan Palace: A Historical Monument which was served as prison to Mahatma Gandhi and Kasturba Gandhi. It was built by Sultan Muhammed Shah Aga Khan III in year of 1982.
Empress Botanical Garden: One of the largest and the oldest gardens of the city, spread in nearly 39 acres of land space. You will spot different types of flowers and trees here and is surprisingly very peaceful
Dagadusheth Halwai Ganapati Temple: The most popular temple in pune where devotees visit in large number from all parts of the country. It was made by a sweet seller, named Dagadusheth Kayastha and it is dedicated to Lord Ganesh.
Lal Mahal: It is also known as the Red Palace Of Pune where Shivaji Maharaj lived for several years. Their marriage with Sai Bhosale was organized in this palace.
Shaniwar Wada: A huge historical fortress built on Saturday, 10th January 1730 which resulted in the name as Shaniwar Wada (Saturday Residence).It is a beautiful place and has many historical facts to it.
Raja Dinkar Kelkar Museum: It contains the collection of Dr Dinkar G Kelkar which is dedicated to his only son Raja and has more than 20000 objects out of which 2500 are displayed here.
Sarasbaug Ganesh Temple: Temple dedicated to Siddhivinayak Ganesha. It is famous among devotees as they say, “if you wish something here, it will definitely get fulfilled”.
Parvati Hill: A hill lock in the city with an elevation of 600m above sea level. It houses some of the most amazing views and 5 different temples on the top.
Pune-Okayama Friendship Garden: A magnificent garden which is also known as Pu La Deshpande Udyan. It was inspired from Okayama’s Koraku-en Garden which is nearly 300 years old Japanese garden.
