China Town has two popular hawker centre: Maxwell and China Town Complex. But did you know there is another hawker centre popular among the locals? It is called Hong Lim Market & Food Centre and it’s actually pretty near the MRT station. My viewers told me I had to visit there, so here I am. Is the food really good? Is it worth visiting? Join me as I try 5 stalls in Hong Lim Market.

  1. Argh…he missed out my CKT! and many other really good food like turtle soup, BKT, BCM, etc etc

  2. try the hokien bak kut teh more herbalthab teochew peppery one ndthe charkway teow at the ight end next to the chickencurry this char kway teow "cuppage CKT is moist and yummy operated by hsband and wife team but thehubby is the bette cook! bnt closed on saturdays

  3. Most of the hawker centres, foodcourts and coffeeshops are quite unhygienic. The plates and utensils are washed very sloppily. The grease stains left by the previous diners are served to the next diners. 😆 Next time ask for an empty plate or use your finger to swipe on the plate/spoons/forks/chopsticks. You will see how unhygienic they are.

  4. Why do you think that hawker food needs to be cheap and good? Do you know that hawkers have rent, salaries and utilities to pay also?

  5. Another one of the more hidden ones is Albert Centre, in the heart of Bugis. Very historical area with a famous temple and best chendol…

  6. hey ghib you musttrythe hokien bak kut teh at hefarleft side of this food centre itsmoreherbal andyummythanthe teochew peppey version esp the pig trotters andthe char kway teowstall ontheotherend called cuppage CKT 2 STALLs away from ahheng curry chicken mee this cuppage CKT cookedby the husband( its a huband/wife stall) isslightly moist not too dry /oily garanteed yummy but closed on sundays

  7. You should buy the fish balls and meat balls soup (2 different types in one bowl) instead of just the fish balls soup. I personally feel the meat balls are more outstanding even though i never like the usual meat balls you get elsewhere. The texture of the meat balls here are nice minus the strong porky smell that is usually present in meat balls.

  8. If you come back to Hong Lim/Chinatown Pt, pls try Hai Kee at Chinatown Pt. They moved from Tg Pgr to Eunos and are now back in town. The soya sauce chicken very fragrant & the ginger-chilli paste they provide is totally oishii. Opposite Chinatown Pt/Hong Lim used to be Chiew Kee – one of the best soya sauce chicken places in town too. Dunno whether still around now.
