When I was a child you could see Mt Fuji from pretty much anywhere…and you gave or were given directions based on Mt Fuji..when I returned as an adult …I was like where is Mt Fuji and was told you can only see it on a clear day…OMG!!!! and I feel the same as you do about the train…even in America what train service is left …is wonderful to ride…especially if you have to go long distance and get a lst class room on the train …it is wonderful…not sure about your friend and his Ramen shop in the US…the US really doesn't appreciate Ramen like they do in Japan and other places in Asia…

It's an amazing country until a foreigner becomes involved in their legal system. Sure you are saying, " Well just don't commit any crimes and you have nothing to worry about d00d!", …Yea, not so fast,…As a tourist or visa holder, foreigners can legally be held for an indeterminate amount of time, sometimes up to 6 months, despite being innocent of any crime. There is no "innocent until proven guilty" amendment, which for comparison, gives Americans a set time in custody before they are either officially charged with a crime or released. Not saying Japan is not a pretty badass place to visit, but making it out to be this utopia that has no faults is just deceiving your viewers, imho,..
