SL 58654 is the oldest operating steam locomotive operating in Japan operating the SL Hitoyoshi train (note: it will end regular services in Spring 2024)
Currently it runs between Kumamoto and Tosu on the Kagoshima Main Line in Kyushu, operated by JR Kyushu. In the past it has operated on the Hisatsu Line (currently closed due to storm damage). As well as the SL 58654, the SL Hitoyoshi is made up of three 50 series.
As the locomotive cannot be turned at Tosu, the train is hauled by a DE10 diesel locomotive on its return to Kumamoto.
