Hi Cruisers, Today we are going to talk about booking shore excursions on your own. Your cruise ship will likely have a shore excursions desk right on the ship. The excursions you book on the ship are handled by the cruise line, and offer a lot of security. For example, if you are delayed on a cruise line’s excursion, the ship will wait for you. This may not be the case if you book your shore excursions on your own. Booking your shore excursions on the ship may seem like the easiest way to go, but what if you want to try something different, and maybe break away from the cruise ship crowd? How can you be sure you get a great excursion, and not get left behind? In this video we are going to give you 5 tips for booking shore excursions on your own.

Once again, good information. Thanks for this one!
Loving Vlogtoberfest! Thanks for all the great information and videos. We're cruising to the South Pacific from Sydney in April, so now I will look into booking an excursion on our own…why not try to save some $ 😊
Timing is perfect- I just started looking into this for our cruise in March. Thank you😘
Just booked Jewel of the Seas for Southern Caribbean in 2019 – first cruise without the ‘rents – and I already started checking out TripAdvisor for shore excursions!! In the past we’ve always done cruise line sponsored tours. This was definitely helpful.
Great Tips!!! Thanks to your channel I went on my first cruise prepared like a seasoned cruiser. I booked four independent shore excursions! All went well, and now I am hooked on cruising. I have my second and third cruises already booked. 2018 on NCL Epic, and a 2019 Southern Carribean cruise on Carnival's soon to be newest ship Horizon, in a Havana Cabana, so excited. Thanks so much for sharing.

Hi Cruise Tips! I had a question. We are leaving on a cruise next summer to Roatan Honduras, Costa Maya Mexico, and Cozumel. What excursions can you suggest? We are beach type cruisers. Thanks a ton in advance!
great tips! ☺
How reliable are independent tour vehicles? For instance, how likely is an independent tour bus/boat/helicopter etc. to break down, or if an independent tour bus breaks down, can I expect them to pay for my taxi ride back to the port, or airfare to the next port of call, or back home?
More great tips! Just another added tip….just because you book through your cruise line, keep an eye out! We recently booked a 4-wheeler excursion for our upcoming cruise. I just happen to be day dreaming and went back to review the pictures on site and they had changed! They were all mud running pictures on 4-wheelers! TOTALLY different from what was originally shown when I booked several months ago and NOT what I want to experience! I realize the islands have had a lot of storms and rain so I am taking that into consideration, but it is still NOT what we want to do…travel home with muddy, nasty clothes. We can go mud riding here at home if so desired. So be sure to check things out carefully! I was able to cancel with Carnival and get a full refund to no harm to foul.
What is the difference between ship time and shore time?
Good information. Thanks for great tips!
