  1. I love Savannah GA, have been going there for years for the Saint Patty Day Parade! Have not been there but once in July, and then had July 4th in Charleston, SC! I just love the people in Savannah GA, all my years going there, the best and friendliest people are there! Just saying that Savannah and Pooler GA, are my most favorable locations to retire in! Would love for the Mayor of Savannah help to keep us over 65 retires come to Savannah to live! Just saying, that my friends and I have brought 12 to 18 people to Savannah GA yearly for Saint Patty Day!

  2. Absolutely love Savanna. To me it’s like New Orleans for “adults”. Same city vibe but less wasted people.

  3. I live in the south and just remember the politeness is not genuine most of the time. It’s just expected.

  4. Savannah is my happy place away from NY City . The peaceful kind vibe is so special!!!!

  5. Thanks for the tips. I am from TN and visiting Tybee Island in July. I am use to some of these tips, because they are just things we do in the south. Looking forward to visiting!

  6. As a local born and raised in Savannah. Dont eat any restaurant on the top 5 searches here. Anything north of 37 street I wouldn’t eat

  7. Don’t give money to the homeless. They’re a pressing issue. The city has countless resources, shelters, places that provide free food.. they use your money for booze and drugs 99% of the time.

  8. The heat and humidity of Savannah in the summer is not nearly as rough as it is in Central and South Florida, so this commentary is a bit hyperbolic, perhaps if you were healthier it wouldn't be hit with a ton of bricks.

  9. Really good, positive videos. I agree with the other commenter about the swarming gnats. Also, I would warn people about Tybee Island. It is a really muddy beach because the Savannah River dumps into the ocean right there. There are large, rusted jetties running out into the surf and the potential for alligators. If I had children, I would not take them to Tybee because they are going to want to get in that water.

  10. Overall, this is good, but all sorts of people travel to Savannah, GA. Including other Southerners, from Charleston, who are familiar with the heat and know the best times of year to avoid it.

  11. don’t give the homeless anything- they are staying in all those fancy hotels you can’t afford to stay in

  12. Another don't, Don't bother going to Leopolds, the ice cream is like any other edible oil ice cream with carrageenan in it.
100 year old recipe my ass

  13. Very sad about the crime issue. Would be nice to find a southern city not destroyed when the N's come out at night. Plus so many bugs. Its the kind of town I would describe as nice for a daytime trip but something you look at and not touch

  14. I love the fact that you mentioned "manners", it's so important and nowadays being kind and respectful is almost under-rated. I'm so glad I get to come here this October, cant wait !!!

  15. Yes, like in any American city, keep your radar on for members of a certain ethnic group who are intent on criminal activities.

  16. Just know that if you’re from northern Georgia and TN and want BBQ in Savannah, it ain’t gonna be sweet and sticky… it’s gonna be mustard based, in Charleston as well. It’s gonna catch you by surprise when they bring it to you.

  17. This is a cute video, but the one thing people really need to pay attention to is the crime. Savanna is a very dangerous city after 10 o'clock at night if you get out of the heavily police patrolled areas. Anyone who tells you different is wrong. As someone who grew up and lived in the south and lived in Charleston/Hilton Head/Savannah area for over four decades, there's a damn sight of difference between charm and politeness. Think of Southern charm as a backhanded compliment and it will begin to make more sense.

  18. I’m sad to hear that Kevin Barry’s close, did any other Irish pub replace it with any new owners? Keep an Irish pub there?

  19. I lived there for 9 years… just don't try to walk on Bay street at night during the week… on the weekends watch out for the college crowd.

  20. Visited Savannah and Tybee Island from the UK at the end of July 2023 and can confirm the humidity is intense, especially for an Englishman!

  21. This might be a stupid question but is there a lot of racism in Georgia? Or savannah specifically? I’m unsure of going to certain Southern states for this reason, I’m brown (south-Asian).

  22. My daughter’s wedding was at Cohen’s retreat , a cool artsy place with a funky and fun history! We had a ball there!

  23. There is no other place in the world like Savannah. In my book 'The Heart is in the Past' it is Savannah that becomes the center of the second half of the story. The characters there are just like the man said.

  24. ive only been once but i instantly fell in love with it. id love to move there some day

  25. One of the don'ts: don't eat at a place that has cracked eggs in the name of their restaurant. If you want to try it read the reviews first. Other than that its great
